Haley Joel Osment‘s recent arrest on alcohol-related offences has sparked mixed reactions on social media. The Blink Twice actor found himself on the wrong side of the law for allegedly having too much fun. He was arrested on April 8 following a call about an intoxicated person at Mammoth Mountain Resort in California.
Cops arrived to find Osment with the resort’s ski patrol and booked him for public intoxication. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance; however, authorities could not identify the substance on site. Instead, they sent it to the labs for further investigation while the actor posed for a shocking mugshot.
The picture obtained by The New York Post captured Osment looking unfazed by his arrest. He posed with a bright smile for the camera as though it was any other day on the red carpet. His unbothered reaction might have something to do with this being his second offense on alcohol-related charges.

In 2006, 18-year-old Osment pled no contest to one count of driving under the influence of alcohol. His charges also included one count of possession of marijuana following his arrest for driving while intoxicated. The incident saw him overturning his car and hitting a mailbox in Los Angeles, resulting in a fractured rib and shoulder injury. The legal drama ended with Osment receiving a 3-year probation and 60 hours of rehab. Additionally, he was ordered to attend 6 months of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings and pay a $1500 fine.
As for his most recent arrest, Osment must await the Mono County DA’s decision on prosecuting his case. The news left many social media users confused as they believed Osment’s actions were on par with ski resort fun. “Isn’t it what ski resorts are for?” someone wondered on Reddit. Another agreed, claiming, “As someone who worked a few years operating chairlifts, yes, can confirm, everyone is either stoned, drunk, or both. Including staff.”

The debate on whether cops were right to arrest Osment continued on X, with someone claiming intoxication was normal at California’s ski resorts. Another believed the controlled substance charge was out of place in California, while a third applauded Osment’s actions. The fan wrote:

The support for Osment continued with a critic arguing, “WTF is even left in California that they arrest you for possession?” Besides the love for Osment, some X users hilariously mistook the actor for Vice President JD Vance. A confused individual slammed cops for failing to recognize the VP, while another referenced Vance’s recent blunder.
The VP got trolled after attempting to hoist the CFP National Championship Trophy into the air. Unfortunately, his “I’m the main character moment” ended with the trophy breaking apart in his hands. The incident only got worse with Vance struggling to save the pieces all on live television, per Comic Sands.
