JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes just broke their silence on their relationship status. After spending the past few weeks living together on Celebrity Big Brother, the pair appeared on This Morning to discuss their time on the show and Siwa’s recent breakup with her partner, Kath Ebbs. Despite fans thinking the Dance Moms star dumped Ebbs for Hughes, Siwa insists that’s not true. However, her relationship with Hughes is “hard to explain.”
Are JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes Dating?
On Monday, April 28, JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes sat down with This Morning to talk about all things Celebrity Big Brother. It marked their first joint interview since the season finale of the reality series aired on April 25. Since Siwa broke up with her partner, Kath Ebbs, at the wrap party, many fans accused her of “emotionally cheating” with Hughes after the two exchanged a series of flirty interactions throughout the show.
Siwa confirmed she had broken up with Ebbs following the finale. Although she admitted that Hughes is a “gorgeous boy” and a “great guy,” Siwa denied they were romantically involved. “It is platonic. We have a lot of fun together,” Siwa said about their relationship. She added that she’s “grateful” to have met Hughes on the reality series and developed a close bond with him.
Hughes feels the same way about Siwa. The British TV personality and model said the two have a “strong friendship.” He feels so connected to Siwa that he considers her his platonic “soul mate.” However, since they got close in such a short time, Hughes acknowledged that not everybody will understand their relationship. “It’s hard to explain,” he said. “It’s not like the standard friendship that you have with your friends.”
When asked if she wants to be more than friends with Hughes, Siwa admitted she’s unsure. “Life is life, and I don’t know any future of anything,” she said.
The Drama With Kath Ebbs
JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes met on the 24th season of Celebrity Big Brother. As part of the competition series, the pair lived together under one roof with various other contestants. For weeks, they were isolated from the rest of the world and were gradually voted off the show one by one as the season progressed. Siwa almost won the entire thing by coming in third place, while Hughes finished in sixth.
Each episode, viewers witnessed Siwa and Hughes grow closer and closer by sharing several intimate moments, like cuddling and holding hands. Fans felt uncomfortable watching their relationship develop since Siwa was in a relationship. They speculated she and Ebbs might call it quits after the finale. However, they didn’t expect their break up to happen so soon.
After the show wrapped on April 25, Ebbs confirmed on TikTok the following day that Siwa had officially ended things with them. “I was dumped at the afterparty, with Chris in the next room,” the social media star, who identifies as non-binary, said.
Despite being hurt by how things played out, Ebbs wished JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes the best. “In terms of their relationship, that’s their journey, enjoy,” they said.
