A Filipino man was the victim of point-blank racism when his San Diego neighbor spat on his door cam after trying to lure him out of his house under false pretenses. The victim, identified as Josh Bringas, posted the footage from his door cam on TikTok. In the video, the suspect, later identified as Dylan, rang his doorbell. When Bringas asked Dylan what he wanted, the latter held up a package, saying, “Yeah, I saw a package here, I got it delivered to my house, but I think it’s for your address.”
Sensing that the suspect only wanted to lure him out of his house, Bringas calmly refused, saying he couldn’t come out because he was on a work call. Dylan then got visibly agitated. He dropped the (visibly open) package on the floor and spoke into the door cam, saying:
“Guess what I gotta say to you. F*ck you, f*ck all your people. And f*ck what you guys stand for alright? The day of the f*cking lord is here.”
Afterwards, he spat on the door cam and walked away. In the caption, the victim gave some context, saying that he noticed the suspect was pacing in the walkway in front of his house for about 13 minutes before ringing his doorbell. He also mentioned that as a Filipino, he has experienced other forms of racism before now.
Shortly after the victim’s video went viral, he released another update concerning the situation. He told his followers that his neighbor had a similar encounter with Dylan.
Bringas’ recounted his neighbor’s horror experience with the suspect, saying that Dylan was also captured pacing in front of his neighbor’s house. However, this time, he was holding a huge rock in his hands and was most likely attempting to throw it into the living room window, where the wife and newborn kid were sitting.
While many social media users are outraged by the situation, some believe Dylan’s actions are somehow tied to President Donald Trump. One user wrote, “When a Trump supporter comes to your house.”
This Redditor commented, “Trump’s America,” and another replied, “Yeah, this must be the peace and unity Trump was talking about… 😆”
Other individuals expressed confusion at the incident and pointed out the obvious tones of racism. “What???? Does his racism have to do with the lord? 😂 I’m so confused,” one user commented. “Isn’t that considered a hate crime 🤔” another asked.
In the victim’s update, he said that the suspect’s family reached out to apologize, asking him to take down the initial video. They also claimed that Dylan only acted that way due to an unnamed mental health condition.
Bringas admitted that while conflicted, he decided not to take the video down because he didn’t want someone else to endure his experience. He also confirmed that he had filed a police report and was planning to get a restraining order against Dylan.
