A Louisiana couple is facing a nightmare scenario just days before their wedding. The madness happened when an underage child accidentally drove a car into their apartment and right into their living room. The accident caused thousands of dollars in damage and also resulted in a minor injury. Now, the pair is looking for legal options to figure out how to deal with the mess that’s left following the crash. Sadly, their wedding day is being tainted by the drama.

The Louisiana couple took to Reddit to share their story and ask for advice. The poster revealed that the child who backed a car into their apartment was only 11 years old. The accident happened around 6 p.m. on a Friday night when their neighbor’s son reversed his parents’ vehicle and sent it through their home, damaging several of their belongings.

The couple’s car was damaged in the process. The driver’s side door, mirror, rim, and dashboard were damaged on the vehicle, which still holds a $5,000 loan balance. The crash also caused structural damage to the apartment, reported at about $4,000. In addition, furniture, electronics, and a BBQ pit were destroyed.

Unfortunately, one member of the couple also injured their foot. They required a trip to the hospital, medication, and X-rays, which resulted in a $400 co-pay. The family responsible was evicted after the accident, and a police report was filed. However, the couple is now left with thousands in damage that they’re not sure insurance will cover. Unfortunately, they’re planning a wedding, which adds more stress.

The couple now finds themselves navigating legal and financial uncertainty for the first time, unsure how to proceed with lawyers, insurers, or potential compensation.

As the couple tries to recover from the emotional and financial strain, many online are rallying to offer support and guidance.

“This could take several months or longer to sort out all the damages, particularly to the building. You may not get much from their insurance in the end, most will probably go to the building. Your landlord will need to handle the building,” one person commented.

“Good luck with it. Your insurance should carry the ball over the finish line, and hopefully to what you need. That’s what you pay them for,” another said.

“This is a Child Protective Services call for sure. The dad is negligent. Someone could have died. This is not a โ€œOK, donโ€™t do it againโ€ type incident,” a third comment read.

Unfortunately, the Louisiana couple will now remember their wedding in connection with the damage done to their car and home. Hopefully, they can move forward and get it sorted out so that they can begin their married life on a high note.
