This month has been a literal rollercoaster ride for the gaming industry. First, GTA 6 got delayed. Then, Rockstar unveiled the game’s second trailer, which calmed people down. However, it seems a few were still skeptical about the game’s delay and if it meant that this Grand Theft Auto entry was lacking polish. According to an insider from Rockstar, GTA 6 is way more polished than other game builds out there, and it seems the developers are just focusing on getting the online mode ready ahead of launch.
The GTA 6 Likely Happened Because of the Online Mode
Before we delve into the meat of the matter, we need to put out the usual disclaimer. First, the above person claims to be an insider, but there’s no actual evidence about it. Secondly, like any other leaks or “insider” information, take it with a grain of salt. Still, some of the things this person says do not seem that far-fetched, so they might be true after all.
According to Redditor TyThe2PointO, GTA 6 got delayed because of the online mode. According to the information, the story mode is beyond ready. The build is polished and fully playable. However, Rockstar executives want to ensure the online mode of GTA 6 works perfectly whenever it launches.
They saw firsthand what GTA Online became for GTA 5 and how much revenue it brought in the long term.

The above statement is true. Even to this day, a decade later, GTA Online is still huge and likely brings in a lot of money. Plus, it gets constant updates with at least two major ones each year and weekly updates. So, if Rockstar truly wants to ensure the online mode works perfectly, it isn’t that wild to believe.
Rockstar Doesn’t Want to Repeat the GTA Online Launch Fiasco

You might be too young to remember, but I was one of the people who called in sick that day to play GTA Online at launch—it was a trainwreck. I remember spending hours getting past the tutorial. Then, I’d do a few missions to get some money with the content we had, and my character would reset after the servers crashed. It was not great. Slowly but surely, GTA Online became the live service beast we know today, and with the stakes being so high for GTA 6, Rockstar might want to get it right this time.
Still, that makes us wonder a few things. If the OP’s information is true, why not release the story mode already? If it is finished and playable since January 2025, according to the Redditor, a Fall 2025 launch would’ve worked. Having GTA 6 Online next year wouldn’t hurt anyone. Or so I think. Then again, this is all a speculative matter, and we can’t take this information as if it were 100% accurate and true. All we can do now is wait for more details about GTA 6 and start counting down the days until its much anticipated release.
