Is she a Unicorn Republican?

A Republican woman in Orange County took the mic at a city hall rally to ask her fellow party members questions about their unwavering support for President Donald Trump. The state of the nation has left many lamenting. A viral TikTok captures the woman’s speech at a rally on Sunday, May 4. She took the center stage and introduced herself, saying, “I am – don’t boo me – a registered Republican.”

The woman told the story of becoming a Republican over 50 years ago because she believed in “the rule of law, fiscal responsibility, and the love of whistleblowers.” She recalled how her parents had voted for the 37th U.S. President, Richard Nixon, but withdrew their support when they discovered he was involved in criminal activity.

The woman then called out her fellow Republicans for “turning a blind eye” to Trump’s many crimes, including “fake charity, fake university, and conviction of sexual abuse,” to name a few. Clearly disappointed, she said that the Republican Party does not support the rule of law anymore. “Fiscal responsibility was lost when Trump was in office the first time, and our national debt skyrocketed even before Covid,” she explained.

In her speech, the speaker further expressed shock at how her fellow Republicans still voted for Trump despite his poor performance in his first administration. She mentioned that the president had already gone bankrupt six times. “With his flagrant misuse of tariffs, are we going to become his seventh bankruptcy?” This was met with loud cheers and support from the audience.

The Republican woman then threw a question at her colleagues: “And now I ask my religious Republican friends. What the bajeebies are you thinking?” She further pointed out that Trump does not respect the Ten Commandments. “He may be peddling the Bible, but he doesn’t know the Bible.” She also added that money was his true god.

While concluding her speech, the Orange County woman vowed never to vote for a Republican again. She also promised to “resist being a part of a cult,” saying that she will “never be a Trumpian.”

In reaction to the woman’s long rant, one user commented, “She’s the first Republican I’ve seen that makes me feel a sense of safe. Thank you.”

One individual remarked, “This is the difference between being a patriot and a cult follower,” and another replied, “There’s nothing wrong with being a Republican, but everything wrong with what this current Republican cabinet is doing.”

One user called it a “breath of fresh air” to see Republicans finally speaking up, and another remarked that her speech helped “shift their perspective.”
