Desert Bus. It’s one of the most famous and infamous old-time games in existence. It’s an eight-hour drive in real time from Tucson to Vegas, with nothing but a monotonous desert road in between. Technically the game was never officially released, save for an online leak. But now, players who have missed out on all the thrill and excitement have the chance to make up for it – Desert Bus VR is currently stopped at Steam station to refuel and pick up passengers (i.e., the game is available on Steam for download). Even better, it’s completely free.

We know you’re hyped, but stick around and let us tell you a bit more. After all, the bus isn’t going anywhere fast. Like the original game, Desert Bus VR includes fun activities such as bug-watching (when they hit the windshield), a constant never-ending steering challenge, and even a bus horn with which to add some brass accompaniment to your radio. The action reaches a crescendo as you bring along your friends for the first time ever. That’s right, this remake gives players the option of being a passenger on someone else’s bus. And if you’re feeling particularly daring, show off your wild side by opening the bus door or spraying some air freshener.

How did Dinosaur Games possibly assemble all the greatest gaming experiences on Earth into one single game, let alone have the capacity to release it for free? We may never know the genius behind this momentous occasion, but we do have some specs for you. Desert Bus VR runs on Windows 7 with service pack one, Windows 8.1, and 10. It requires four gigs of RAM and takes up 700MB of hard drive space. Oh, would you look at the time. The bus is about to leave the station. If you’ve got your ticket, hurry up and get on or you’ll be stuck here for another 16 hours!
