In what can only be described as a budget GTA side mission gone rogue, a man in Utah was caught on video attempting to flee police… in a United States Postal Service truck.
Yes, a mail truck. The kind with the top speed of a riding lawnmower and the turning radius of a school bus. And yes, itโs exactly as slow and bizarre as it sounds.
The short but surreal 55-second video begins mid-chase. A bewildered bystander films from a nearby parking lot as the boxy Grumman LLV trundles across a road, sirens wailing behind it. The USPS logo is clearly visible as the truck crests a small curb and continues its ill-fated getaway, โwizzingโ through traffic in the same way a turtle โdartsโ across a trail.
โThese GTA6 promos are getting out of hand,โ joked one user, a sentiment echoed by dozens of Redditors who jumped into the comment section with Seinfeld references, GTA comparisons, and riffs on the old โgoing postalโ phrase. Another commenter quipped, โNewman finally went postal,โ while someone else likened the footage to a low-budget trailer for Blues Brothers 2026.
While exact details from local authorities are still emerging, Reddit sleuths quickly pegged the location as somewhere along the Wasatch Front in Utah, thanks to a set of unmistakably dull green buildings in the background. One local even noted, โCrazy recognizing those ugly ass green buildings.โ
The suspectโs identity and motive remain unknown at the time of this writing, but internet detectives speculate that the truck may have been stolen while a mail carrier was mid-route. If so, it opens the door to state charges and federal ones, given the involvement of USPS property.
That didnโt stop the internet from turning it into performance art. โShouldโve kept it on the roads and gone for endurance,โ wrote one Redditor. โNothing can outlast the Grumman LLV!โ
Currently, no reports indicate any injuries, and it appears the suspect was ultimately apprehended after the sluggish chase. Probably the first police pursuit where pedestrians could jog alongside.
Itโs unclear what the charges will be, but โfederal offense via glorified golf cartโ has to be among the most uniquely American crimes of the year.
