Texas Man Sues Burger Chain For Putting Onions on His Burger: ‘This Seems Intentional’

There is no way this isn’t intentional.

Sometimes, issues happen when you order fast food. Workers can forget to put something or add something that you didn’t want. We are, however, humans and can make mistakes. Well, one mistake at a burger chain is going to be quite expensive for them. A Texas man is claiming that he ordered a burger with no onions at Whataburger. The burger he ate ended up having onions on it despite his request. So now, he is taking the burger chain to court. Whether this will actually go anywhere or not is yet to be seen.

The Texas resident claimed that he specifically told the staff at Whataburger not to put any onions on his order. They ended up doing the opposite. The problem is that the Texas man says he has an allergy to onions. He also claimed that Whataburger’s mistake caused him “serious personal injuries.” According to Kens5, the man also needed the help of medical professionals. Some people might have decided to let this go, but this isn’t happening here. He took the matter to court and is now asking for over $250,000 and no less than $1 million. People believe that the Texas man is doing this on purpose since he did the same thing before. In 2024, he sued Sonic for the exact same reason.

People Reacting to the Texas Man’s Lawsuit

A lot agreed that the man was doing this whole situation on purpose, especially since he had previously sued another restaurant. Someone pointed out that this fact could ruin his case. “I would imagine that suing two restaurants simultaneously for the same thing might hurt his case,” they wrote. Another person believed that he was doing this on purpose. “He’s allergic. He also sued Sonic. This seems intentional. I’m sure onions are in the same kitchen as the rest of the ingredients,” they said. One Redditor wrote what they believe the Texas man is doing, and I definitely agree with that:

“1. Be allergic to onions.

2. Order tons of burgers with no onions until some minimum wage fast food worker accidentally adds onions.

3. ???

4. Profit!”

People kept dragging the Texas man and his attempt to gain money through lawsuits. “This guy is just looking for a payout,” one person wrote. Another claimed that the way the man behaved was not how someone with an allergy would act. “First, if I were allergic to something as common as onions, I’d avoid fast food places that I know use them in their kitchens. Secondly, if I were allergic to something as common as onions but still chose to eat fast food, I’d check every burger before biting into it,” they wrote.

Someone else illustrated what it actually means to be allergic and fear for your life. “My cousin has a laminated card in his wallet that says, ‘peanuts will kill me’ in like 10 languages, just to be really clear to workers who don’t speak English,” they said. If the Texas man was allergic and not in it for the money, he would have double-checked before eating.
