Tennessee Man Goes Around Pulling Cars Over and Pretending to be a Cop: ‘Sounds Like Cosplay ICE’

Definitely not a cop.

The rise of ICE appearances and arrests has made some wannabes start to appear across the country. You could now come across someone and not know if they were actually an ICE officer or someone who is pretending to be one. It’s not like the government is doing anything to stop those people who are terrifying others for no reason at all. Now, a Tennessee man is reported to be going around and pretending to be an ICE officer by behaving the same way, but with more exaggeration. This happened with an Uber driver who shared how he was stopped by someone wearing all black and a bulletproof vest.

What kind of cop was this? Was it even a cop?

After he was stopped, the driver shared that the fake officer started asking him weird questions. He started by seeing his license and registration and then refusing to say why he pulled the driver over. The Tennessee man also asked the driver things like where he was born, if he went to Church, what kind of Church he went to, and where he had lived before. He then proceeded to ask him if he had ever been to Russia, which is quite weird, to be honest. The final question was where do Uber drivers pick a lot of people from. Keep in mind that all these questions were asked even with the driver being white. Who knows what would have happened if this fake officer stopped an immigrant.

People Reacting to the Tennessee Man

Immediately, people started telling the driver that there was no way this man was an actual cop. One person wrote, “Sounds like cosplay ICE.” Another agreed with this as they wrote, “Agreed. OP should probably report this to the actual police.” The situation made some people make up likely scenarios as to why this happened. “It sounds like someone who vaguely heard about the cold war and also, ICE, rehearsing his made up character. I don’t want to jump to conclusions but I think he wants to assault Hispanic women and he is trying to find a way to get them in his car.” That person wasn’t the only one who thought that the Tennessee man was looking for a Hispanic person to harass.

Someone stated the obvious as they wrote, “Impersonating a police officer is a serious crime.” Since a lot of people are pretending to be officers with no clear consequences, a person corrected the statement and said that it was a serious crime, but not anymore. This might be a common occurrence so this made some people offer the driver advice on how to act if this happened again. “Probably not a cop. If this happens again, pull over in a safe public space and call 911,” one person wrote. “I would report this to the actual MNPD. This sounds shady AF,” someone added. Hopefully, this situation won’t happen to someone else anytime soon.
