Wild Padres Fans Throw Punches at Each Other in San Diego Showdown: ‘Stupid Drunks’

That one dude won.

Almost any kind of sport can lead to fights between fans, whether it’s basketball, football, soccer, or even baseball. In a Padres game against the Pittsburgh Pirates in San Diego, some Padres fans showed their boxing skills as they fought each other. To me, this fight was way better than some boxing matches I have seen before. Yes, it left chaos in its wake, but it was still a great show. People in the stands were also lucky because they got to watch two sports for the price of one ticket.

A video taken by one Padres fan showed the beginning of the chaotic brawl. One guy with the number 23 on his jersey threw the first punch. He and another person then pushed someone else, which caused him to fall to the ground. Number 23 was in his prime as he threw a second punch at someone else. One second later, he delivered his third punch. I won’t be surprised if he were a retired boxer. Number 13 tries to take down number 23, but he again receives another punch. He still managed to land some punches,s too.

During the rest of the video, numbers 23 and 13 are separated by some volunteers from the crowd. You can see them insulting each other and trying to get the other to attack first. After some insults here and there, someone finally manages to convince number 23 to sit back down. It was a good match with great camerawork to boot. Eat that Bourne Identity shaky cam action scenes!

People Reacting to the San Diego Showdown

Many people enjoyed the fight, but some came to support those involved. “Stupid drunks,” one person wrote. Another said, “I’ll never understand why adults do this shit…” Since the Padres ended up losing the San Diego game, someone wrote, “Well at least someone’s got some hits in. Unlike the Padres on the field.”

On the other hand, I wasn’t the only one who noticed how number 23 was on a roll. “Did that one guy take out 3 guys,” one person asked in amusement. Another replied by saying, “Dude was in the zone.” The admiration toward number 23’s boxing skills kept going as one person wrote, “#23 has dynamite in his right hand holy.”

Aside from becoming fans of number 23, some people were glad that they stayed at home instead of watching the game at the stadium. “another reason that the best seats are at home,” one person commented. One Redditor, however, believed that the situation was a serious one and not entertaining. “Security team completely unaware that this was happening. Security team completely checked out. Ordinary fans and ordinary ticket holders having to step up and try to inject themselves to de-escalate violent and tense situations, putting their own safety at risk. I hope the Padres organization sees this and realizes that their current security team and security protocol is lacking and failing to provide a safe environment for everyday fans,” they wrote. They might be right, but it was still a good match.
