The ICE raid protests in Los Angeles, California, have been underway for a while now, with no end in sight. However, while some of the protesters have tried to stay clear of law enforcement, this California reporter was singing a different tune. Amid these protests, there have been some media members injured in the crossfire of riot cops’ rubber bullets, but that did not seem to faze this reporter. No, this man was getting in the faces of officers just to get some laughs.

The Daily Dot reports that the California reporter has been identified as YouTuber Sidam. He is a part of the comedy YouTube team Channel 5. This specific interaction was part of a larger video where the man would mess with the police. He also conducts interviews around Los Angeles amid all the chaos.

In the video, viewers can hear the California reporter trying to get a riot cop to admit they went to high school together. Sidam would even go as far as to state they had a class together. “We had algebra together,” claims the reporter. Sidam would continue trying to get the officer to answer until he was told to “back up.”  While walking away, Sidam would jokingly tell everyone, including the camera, that the officer had failed high school algebra twice.

This California Reporter Asks Law Enforcement Insane Questions

In the longer video, the reporter does actually do a little bit of interviewing. Sidam can be seen talking to some cops as they try to dance around his more unserious questions. Things like whether or not they plan to shoot protesters that day, or if they were going to hit anyone with their “sticks.”

Although he does do some rather serious reporting when talking to the protesters themselves. The vast majority of the protesters who got interviews appeared to be extremely peaceful. However, there seems to be a little confusion online regarding whether Sidam really knew that riot cop or not. Although, since the video is from a comedy YouTube channel, it seems safe to say it was just a joke.

As the Los Angeles ICE raids and protests continue to engulf the city in chaos, it can be fun to laugh at silly videos like these. However, it is also important to remember just how serious a situation it really is. Although with the popularity of the California reporter’s video, hopefully, the millions of people who are watching can understand the situation at hand, amid all the funny jokes. As for the riot cop, it may be time to hit the books some more.
