Despite being one of the most powerful and dangerous men in the world, Donald Trump has become a public laughingstock, even during his own birthday parade in DC. More specifically, it was a long day for Trump, and sitting there watching all the army service members and vehicles pass by might have been too much for him. So when it came time for the fireworks show later that night, the President was caught dozing off during the celebration! And Jimmy Kimmel was not about to let Don The Con get away with it.
“There’s sleepy Don taking it all in,” Kimmel quipped, showing a clip of the President falling asleep while sitting next to Melania and a handful of other government leaders. The host continued the roast: “In fairness, that’s as close as he gets to be able to sleep with his wife, so he took the opportunity.” But it doesn’t end there. Kimmel goes on to show another clip of Trump still looking as drowsy as ever, but this time, he makes a little hand motion to hold Melania’s hand. Unfortunately for him, she doesn’t even react and ignores him.
“Watching jimmy decimate trump brings me so much joy ❤️,” a viewer says, praising Kimmel for standing against the absurd current administration in office. Plenty more shared the user’s sentiment, saying that comedians like Kimmel will make the next three and a half years with Trump a bit more bearable. Things have already been such a nightmare thus far, from the tariffs, job cuts, and general loss of rights for Americans. And don’t even get me started on ICE and what that has brought about in our once peaceful country. It goes without saying that we all need to hear a bit more light ridicule of the narcissist running our government.
Reddit users also saw Trump’s body language when sitting with Melania as a clear sign that the two aren’t very close and that she’s nothing more than a trophy wife. “Those people don’t know each other at all,” one user remarks. Others guess that the two don’t even sleep in the same bed, let alone the same bedroom together. “They know each other. And they f***ing hate each other,” comments another. Whatever the case, the army service members tried their best to make a somewhat worthwhile parade. It’s just that the leadership and management behind the celebration showed little care for it all, and it shows.
Hopefully, during the next national parade or similar celebration, we’ll have someone worthy in office to show actual respect for our troops and the country’s military.
