Parents are always finding new ways to ensure the safety of their children. However, for his Texas mother, keeping her child safe means riding behind them in the car for their daily run. Houston, Texas native Jessica Davaila-Alverez recently posted a TikTok of her following her 13-year-old daughter while she was out on her daily run. While some may see this as too much of a hands-on parenting style, the world can be a dangerous place, despite how old you are.

The 34-year-old Texas mother has recently become viral online due to the TikTok she posted. The video begins by showing Jessica’s 13-year-old daughter getting ready to take off on what the video states to be her “daily 5K run.” The clip continues as the girl begins jogging down the side of the road while her mother follows loosely behind her in their vehicle. The viral video has reached over 263,000 likes since the time of its posting. However, it has also allegedly struck a nerve with runners and parents alike.

However, despite the small group of loud and angry social media users, many have also come out and taken Jessica’s side in all of this. It seems they understand how dangerous life is, and also understand the love a parent has for their child. “I hate that we live in this evil world,” commented one. Jess told Newsweek that her daughter is very active. “I wake up at 5:00 am to take her to practice,” the Texas mother explains. Jessica goes on to say her daughter runs at home to stay in shape, and also runs track and field for her school. In order to keep up her endurance, the 13-year-old has to keep working even when she is at home.

The decision to begin following her daughter while she runs was allegedly made out of paranoia and a little bit of practicality. Jess states that the family does live in a better area of their city. However, anything can happen at any time. Although Jessica feels as though it’s her duty as a mother to keep her child as far from harm as possible. The mother of three says she wants to make her daughter feel safe and “comfortable” while on her runs.

This Texas mother has really set the bar high for most other parents. However, in this day and age, it’s always better to be safe than sorry. Especially when it comes to the safety and stability of your children. Jessica Davila-Alverez is doing everything she can to keep her children safe. This could very easily be the blueprint for what a great parent looks like.
