A porter’s boost

As you may or may not know, there are a few items you can get in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach if you buy the deluxe edition. These items do not give you an advantage and serve mostly as a way to customize Sam’s porter look. Still, many might wonder where these bonus objects might be and how long it takes to get them. Well, if you want to start wearing your gold skeleton or unlock a powerful weapon as early as possible, here we’ll tell you all about these items.

Like many things in the game, unlocking these items is tied to the main story. In other words, you need to progress through certain orders or main quests to get your skeletons and some guns. Here’s the list of unlocks and how long it takes to get each:

  • Pre-Order Items
    • Custom Hologram Quokka Early Unlock (After unlocking the structure customization feature, which is as soon as you start building things with your PCC and upgrade one structure to level 2).
    • Battle Skeleton: Silver (Complete Order #10)
    • Boost Skeleton: Silver (Complete Order #21)
    • Bokka Skeleton: Silver (Complete Order #30)
  • Deluxe Edition Items
    • Machine Gun (MP Bullets) (Reach Ciudad Nudo del Norte)
    • Quokka Patch (Reach Ciudad Nudo del Norte)
    • Chiral Feline Patch (Reach Ciudad Nudo del Norte)
    • Why Me? Patch (Reach Ciudad Nudo del Norte)
    • Battle Skeleton: Gold (Complete Order #10)
    • Boost Skeleton: Gold (Complete Order #21)
    • Bokka Skeleton: Gold (Complete Order #30)

While you’ll unlock these items when you meet the above conditions, you still need to craft all of them. When it comes to skeletons, all of them cost the same amount of resources regardless of the color (silver or gold).

Are the Pre-Order and Deluxe Items Pay-to-win?

As we said before, they are not. All these items are entirely cosmetic. They do not provide any gameplay advantages. Even the Machine Gun, which is an early unlock, can be obtained later. Also, if you don’t have the Machine Gun, the Assault Rifle is powerful enough to defeat the first boss, clear bandit and brigand camps, and even fight some BTs. So, if you don’t have these items, don’t sweat about it. Still, they look quite cool, so if you’re able to get the deluxe edition upgrade for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, we recommend it, even if it’s just to have that porter drip around Mexico and Australia.
