What started as a peaceful day of playing golf turned into an ugly brawl when a group of golfers ran into a disagreement. A video clip posted on Instagram briefly showed a chaotic scene on a golf course in Utah. From the context in the caption, two groups of golfers were playing against each other. One group had to make a two-foot putt to get the ball into the hole. Instead, they requested that the putt should be given as a gimme, meaning that they did not want to take the shot but still wanted to be awarded the points.
The opposing team did not agree to give the putt as a gimme and insisted that the shot must be made in order for the points to count. This put both teams at loggerheads with each other, resulting in a brawl right on the greens of the golf course. On one side, it was two against one, and on the other side, it was one against one.
Two men were standing and kicking one man sitting on the grass, holding up his hands in a manner that suggested he was trying to reason with them. Nevertheless, the two men were relentless in their attack. One went as far as picking up a golf club and using it to violently hit the victim, who was still on the floor.
The attacker’s counterpart also kicked the victim repeatedly and angrily tried to use a golf bag as another weapon. However, the victim was able to dodge the subsequent attack and stand up.
On the other side, just a few feet away from the first group, two men were at each other’s throats. They could be seen repeatedly landing blows on each other and dragging each other’s shirts. They also appeared to be exchanging heated words, but no audio was provided in the clip.
One user who watched the clip of the fight online wrote that the golfer who attacked the victim with a golf club should face jail time. “Black shirt deserved jail time for swinging a club. What happened to a good old-fashioned fist fight?” Another observed, “Bro upgraded his crime from a misdemeanor to a felony real quick.”
A user agreed with the previous comments, pointing out that using the golf club on a fellow man is “gonna land homie in hot water.” Another who also agreed commented that it was “assault with a deadly weapon.”
Other users lamented that the game of golf was once elegant and classy, but not anymore. “…Now it’s just rude and obnoxious jerks on the course with their boom boxes and overthinking.”
