New York TikToker Demands the ‘Princess’ Treatment at Restaurants, ‘It’s Giving Cult or Hostage Situation’

It’s an old-timey idea to want special treatment from your partner that involves you never having to lift a finger. Though some people might want to live in this dream scenario, others find it a laughable nightmare. One New York TikToker is going viral for sharing an intimate dynamic of her relationship. She was direct in explaining she wants her husband to give her the “princess treatment” when she goes on dates with him. The internet is reacting in the best way possible: with humor and disdain.

The somewhat cringey video was first posted by TikToker Courtney Joelle (@jojoejoelle), who set specific rules her husband has to follow when they go on dates. That feels way too contractual for my taste; I like scheduling movie dates, but I also want room for the spontaneous. Courtney explains in her video she follows a “princess treatment” type of routine that makes her feel “taken care of” when she’s with her loved one. She said she refuses to speak or even make eye contact with the hostess at a restaurant. She will also avoid ordering for herself and wait in the lobby until her husband returns from parking their vehicle.

It feels almost like something out of a romantic movie from the 50s. And that’s not hard to believe, since Courtney calls herself a “housewife princess,” following feminine and conservative ideals on her TikTok videos. She’s big on women embracing “traditional” gender roles (whatever that means).

So, why does Courtney do this? She says it’s not a way to control her husband. Instead, she claims it’s letting her husband “lead” and “be masculine.” She says allowing him to order for her and park the vehicle on their nights out makes her feel special. However, viewers had a lot to say about this, even going as far as to parody her video as they mocked her for her ideas. Individuals created reenactments of her video where they were reacting as the hostess or pretended being kidnapped.

One TikTok commenter wrote in the comments to the initial video, “It’s giving cult or hostage situation.” Another said, “As a former waitress and an actual girls girl, I would have slipped you a note and asked if you’re ok or if I should call the police” in reference to Courtney not making eye contact with the hostess. Many people felt Courtney is a bit out of touch and even rude in her decision to let her husband do all the work on the date and refuse to speak with those serving them.

As Courtney summed up, “People just take things seriously in such the wrong way” and said she would be “ripped apart” for posting this on social media. Well, Courtney’s right about that. When something is on the internet, especially the most ridiculous things, everybody will definitely come bearing opinions.
