Ariana Grande has had enough of the online gossip. On Wednesday, July 16, the pop star addressed speculation that she’s considering leaving her singing career behind to further pursue acting. She admitted she has a lot going on in her life right now with Wicked and other acting projects. However, Grande reassured fans she’ll never quit music.

Ariana Grande Addresses “Silly” Rumors About Her Music Career

Ariana Grande slammed the rumors in a lengthy Instagram post. She told fans she’s seen their concerns and thought it was “very silly” of them to think she would ever trade music for acting. She said it’s true that she has her “hands full” with several acting projects these days. However, that doesn’t mean she’s made it her priority. At the end of the day, music will always come first. “It is and has always been my lifeline,” Grande explained, adding that no matter how busy she gets, she’ll make “room” for it.

Finding A Balance

Grande acknowledged that her recent music schedule may have been a hard adjustment for fans. Ever since dropping her debut album, Yours, Truly, in 2013, Grande has come out with a new record every one or two years. She would then promote her music by touring around the world. However, that stopped with the release of Positions in 2020. Of course, she couldn’t perform live for fans that year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Even after restrictions lifted, she never went on a Positions tour. After getting cast in Wicked in 2021, Grande extended her music hiatus until 2024 with the arrival of Eternal Sunshine.

The “7 Rings” singer said her life “may not look exactly like it did before,” but fans shouldn’t worry. She’s “having fun” exploring different projects. “I feel grateful and excited and inspired,” Grande said. She added that she’s working hard on “finding a balance” with music and acting.

She didn’t confirm when she’ll release a new album or when her next tour will be, but teased she’s got something music-related in the works that will be revealed soon. “I’m working on a plan to sing for you all next year, even if it’s just for a little,” she said.

What’s Next?

Ariana Grande’s Instagram message comes amid news that she’s been cast in Oh, the Places Youโ€™ll Go. The animated film, which will be a musical directed by Wicked‘s John M. Chu, will adapt the popular Dr. Seuss book of the same name for the big screen. According to People, Grande is confirmed as part of the voice cast, but it’s still unclear which role she’ll play. Considering the movie won’t release until March 2028, it may be some time before fans find out more details about Grande’s casting.

Earlier this year, news also broke that Ariana Grande had been cast in a Meet the Parents sequel alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro. The film will premiere in November 2026, which is one year after Wicked: For Good hits theaters this fall.
