New York Woman Rents Fake Boyfriend to Avoid Getting Scammed: ‘What Happened to the Strong and Independent?’

That was smart

Many believe that men have no problem with scamming women when they see them on their own with no man in sight. This has been proved to be true several times, so some women try to come up with solutions to avoid being tricked. Some might decide to bring their boyfriend. Others who might be single could bring their dad, brother, or even a male friend. Well, a New York woman went the extra mile as she thought of something else. She was planning on buying a car, and she had a reasonable fear that she would be scammed if she went on her own. Apparently, she had no men in her life whom she could ask to come with her. This made her decide to rent a man to act like her boyfriend for an hour through TaskRabbit.

unfortunately my type is emotionally unavailable men who can’t change a tire and I don’t know a single blue collar man in the city. Thank u TaskRabbit

In a video posted on TikTok, you can see the New York woman filming two men as they are inspecting a car parked on a street. The man who appears to be the seller is pointing things to the fake boyfriend. The fake boyfriend then checks the car by himself as well. Honestly, that is a smart solution. Honestly, this is something I could see other women start doing. To explain why she decided to rent a fake boyfriend, the girl wrote more details in her caption. “Unfortunately my type is emotionally unavailable men who can’t change a tire and I don’t know a single blue collar man in the city. Thank u TaskRabbit.” I mean, if it works, then there is nothing wrong with it. She had someone to help her not get scammed, and the guy got paid, so everyone is a winner here.

People Reacting to the New York Woman’s Fake Boyfriend

People in the comments were split over the New York woman renting a boyfriend. Some men decided to mock women in general since they say that they are independent and don’t need men. “What happened to the strong and independent bear choosing ?” one man wrote. This made a girl reply in defense and say, “Men in the garage would scam her bc she’s a woman on her own and will take advantage. Actually validates why we choose the bear.” That’s valid honestly. Another man also said sarcastically, “Independent women.” When you look at it, she hired a man using her own money so that he could get her what she wanted. That is still independent in a way.

Someone else also went after the buyer, saying, “Lol imagine getting hired by somebody to help them buy a car and she just sits and makes TikToks the entire time.” This made another person defend the girl and say, “So you still get paid. What’s the issue?” Just like I said, everyone is a winner here. There were others who also offered advice on what the New York woman should have done instead. “I always find a mechanic who has an hour and just offer 100-200 bucks to come along when I buy a used car,” was one person’s advice.

Aside from the advice and the feminism hate, others had some jokes in them. “Luckily you didn’t hire me, we would have been scammed together and would have to walk home together,” one person wrote. One user had a similar opinion as they said, “Yes! That’s very good idea. But make sure he knows wtf he is talking about and looking for. Because he too can get scammed lol.” At least she got to have a unique experience.
