A DoorDash delivery in Houston, Texas, took an unexpected turn, and now the internet can’t stop watching. A viral TikTok video shared by @chitextrukka has racked up thousands of views after capturing the moment a DoorDash driver was allegedly caught on a Ring camera trying to walk off with a customer’s food after marking it as delivered.

The footage, shown from the perspective of the home’s Ring doorbell camera, begins like any standard delivery. The driver is seen placing the order down and snapping a photo for proof of delivery, but what happens next raises eyebrows. Instead of leaving the food behind, the driver picks it right back up and begins walking away with it.

The homeowner, watching the situation unfold in real-time, quickly speaks through the Ring intercom: “Excuse me!” The voice cuts through the silence until the driver hesitates, turns around, and slowly walks back toward the door. “Are you not delivering my stuff?” the homeowner asks, before firmly instructing, “Leave it at the door.”

Looking momentarily confused, the driver places the food back where it was and seemingly pretends to take a second photo as if nothing happened. Still skeptical, the homeowner follows up: “Did you think you had the wrong place or something?” The driver responds, “They say GPS,” pointing to the phone in her hand and appearing to blame the mix-up on GPS confusion, though viewers were quick to point out her response didn’t quite add up.

Commenters on TikTok wasted no time calling out the driver’s behavior, and many weren’t buying the GPS excuse. One user wrote, “I’ll report her… she probably does this all the time,” while another pointed out, “They see the dang camera too. That’s the craziest part.” Others chimed in on the boldness of the act, with one viewer noting, “The crazy thing is at this point we know those cameras are recording yet people still will risk embarrassment.” A few took a more humorous approach, saying, “She said this my last delivery and dinner,” and “She thought she had a free meal.”

But, while many TikTok users were quick to assume the worst, others chimed in with a more sympathetic take, suggesting the delivery driver may have genuinely been confused due to faulty GPS directions. “I honestly think she was confused,” one user commented. “GPS sometimes will say you’re not at the right location, ‘Are you sure you want to submit photo?’, and it throws it off.”

Another viewer, who said they had similar experiences as a customer, added, “The GPS do be wrong. They take my food next door or the house before. The GPS is slow to catch up most times. She genuinely looks like that’s the situation.” Even fellow DoorDash drivers jumped in to defend her actions. “I’m a dasher… nah, that GPS be acting crazy. She might be telling the truth. Her order wasn’t completed by looking at her screen,” one person explained.

DoorDash Driver Incident Raises Questions About Accountability in Delivery Services

While DoorDash has yet to publicly respond to the incident, many users are calling for stronger accountability measures when it comes to food delivery services, especially when customers are relying on trust and transparency from drivers. As for @chitextrukka, they seem to be taking it all in stride, but they made sure the footage lives on as a warning (and a bit of entertainment) for others. Whether it was an honest mistake or something more shady, the viral clip has certainly sparked debate about trust, technology, and the reality of working in gig economy jobs.
