As PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds continues to shatter records and gain new players, an ugly side of the game has become more and more prominent: cheaters. Developer PUBG Corporation has announced that they have identified a new pattern that alerts them to cheaters and, as a result, will permanently ban all players found to be using the exploit. In their post on the issue, they claim to have identified over 100,000 instances of the exploit being used and will ban each account in one, single wave.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has had some difficulty keeping servers running smoothly and taking care of cheaters with the huge influx of players over a relatively short period of time. This is a step in the right direction for the battle royale game.

PUBG Corporation also wrote that a recent patch will be on the way to fix a few other issues, one of which deals directly with cheaters. The “deathcam” that was recently added serves a dual purpose: it allows you to see what spot someone killed you from, which can be invaluable to improving your game. At the same time, it lets you keep an eye on whether the person who sniped you from miles away is just that good or if they were cheating, which then allows you to report them. The deathcam is apparently suffering from a bug that occasionally makes it look like the person who killed you was cheating when they actually were not. This will be fixed soon.

The “blue zone” that gradually forces players into the center of the map is also about to be tweaked, making it shrink more often but at a slower speed as the game comes to a conclusion. Hopefully, this will improve some of the downtime that can occur in the mid to late game. This change will roll out on the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds test server before coming to the main game.

We quite liked PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds once it finally got its full release. Check out our review here, and keep an eye out for those cheaters.
