It’s common knowledge that whenever you buy something, you should follow the store’s instructions. If they tell you to avoid doing certain things, they aren’t doing that to be annoying. They simply want to keep your purchase safe and in working order. An entitled Texas Karen decided to do exactly what Best Buy told her not to do. It’s not just that, but she also had the audacity to go back and demand that they give her a refund of the $700 she paid. Of course, like what most Karens would do, she was filming the conversation as she argued with the employees. “If you can’t help then you are no help,” she tells one of the employees who told her to wait for someone else.
Due to the way the Karen and the woman with her were behaving, the employee they were waiting for came and asked them to leave. That started an argument as they claimed that the store sold them a damaged TV. If you thought for a moment that she deserved a refund, you change your mind when she slips up. She first says that the TV isn’t working anymore, which means that she tried to turn it on after buying it. The Texas Karen then tries to change her words as she says that the TV was broken before they even took it out of the box. The contradictions in what she says only makes her look even more suspicious.
The woman slips up again and says that laying the TV flat for an eight-minute drive won’t break it. The employee makes it clear that they did warn her not to do that. The continuous back and forth made the employee get confused as well. He ended up saying that they had let her know ahead of time that the TV was broken. There is no way that a store would do this and it was clear that he was frustrated that he even made such a mistake and said that. Instead of letting it go, the woman holds onto his words telling him that he is lying. “So I guess he just can’t speak,” she says to the woman with her. You don’t know what happens next, but not a lot of people were on Karen’s side. After all, she ended up deleting the video from her TikTok account.
People Reacting to the Entitled Texas Karen
Unsurprisingly, many people came after the Texas Karen and found that she didn’t deserve a refund. One person pointed out how she ignored all the warnings given to her and yet came to complain. “Imagine hearing all the warnings and still thinking you aren’t at fault for ignoring them. is she a boomer?” they asked. Several also noticed how she slipped up during the confrontation. “This doesn’t add up Lol. She claims it was cracked before she opened it but then says it doesn’t work anymore. This means she admitted to taking it out of the box and trying to use it. Definitely see why these guys are skeptical,” one person wrote. Someone else noticed the same thing as they said, “Yeah I caught that slip up too. She done cooked herself.”
Some former Best Buy employees also shared their own experience and said how they would have reacted in this situation. “Having worked at Best Buy and dealing with all the shit customers try and pull, I wouldn’t accept this return,” one person wrote. Others, though, came after Best Buy and believed that they should have refunded the Texas woman and gotten it over with. “Buy from Costco,” someone advised. One Redditor was confused that few people were actually defending the woman. “The number of people in here saying ‘sure she was told this would break, but they should still refund her’ is disturbing – and telling on yourselves for how you shop…,” they wrote. I mean, she was the one to break it, so she shouldn’t expect them to refund her.
