Despite everything going on with the political climate of the United States, there are still other things that American citizens worry about, like not getting hit by carjacked garbage trucks. Earlier today, a Boston man stole a vehicle in the Medford area. After being apprehended by police, things didn’t turn out the way authorities expected, as he immediately fled the scene and carjacked a garbage truck from Republic Services. As a resident of that particular neighborhood, it’s shocking to know just how close disaster struck.
The above footage shows the moment a hijacked Republic Services garbage truck sped through the Boston neighborhood of Everett before finally smashing into a bridge in front of the Encore casino. As a result of the incident, the entirety of the Alford Street Bridge will be shut down temporarily. Considering the traffic coming in and out of the casino on a daily basis, this resulted in massive gridlock that lasted for nearly two hours.
Realistically, the entirety of the situation sounds made-up. You’re telling me that a man was able to steal a car, steal a garbage truck, get chased by police, and crash into a bridge, before Grand Theft Auto 6 even comes out? Others in the comments agree with this sentiment, with one person going so far as to say, “๐ at this point everything is happening before gta6.”
Fortunately, despite the severity of the situation, it appears that no one was injured as a result of the carjackers’ recklessness. In fact, the Alford Street Bridge did end up opening up, allowing for a normal flow of traffic to and from the Chelsea area. As mentioned above, the Encore casino continued to operate normally as well, even during the police’s pursuit of the stolen garbage truck.
