While celebrities dread the paparazzi, it’s regular people who have to put up with the nuisance of shameless influencers. A gym goer in Florida met a pair of these self-proclaimed social media celebs while trying to work out. Filming yourself in public and obnoxiously broadcasting everything around you to your fans or viewers is annoying enough. However, these two influencers took things a step further and began putting their equipment around the place like it was their own personal studio.
“[These] loser gym goers [are] blocking pathways with their ridiculously bright camera fixtures,” the irritated individual said, posting the photo of the “wannabe gym influencers” to r/mildlyinfuriating. OP explains that it’s okay for people to use small tripods for their phones and other simple recording equipment in their setup. “But when they bring out these giant fixtures and huge cameras following them everywhere, like seriously? That’s wayyyy too much,” they exclaim.
Many Reddit users in the comment section 100% agreed that dealing with inconsiderate vloggers and streamers at the gym is the worst. “People who film themselves at the gym are gross,” remarked one Redditor. “Anyone who records in a gym? Straight to gulag,” adds another. “That is too disruptive for open public spaces,” says a third, asserting that influencers should have to rent the space if they want to go that far with filming themselves.
While the selfish gym goers definitely are at fault, some argue that management should be accountable as well. Unfortunately for this Florida gym, OP states that the “staff doesn’t care” and that “they probably encourage it,” seeing how it could perhaps bring in more business. Still, one individual claims that these influencers are doing so much wrong than just being an extreme nuisance. For example, they are committing a fire marshal violation and likely shooting commercial content without a permit while also including random participants without permission. “There are so many ways to ruin everyone’s day here. I’d start with tripping over that thing,” the commenter suggests.
Even if the staff finally kicks out these influencers from the gym, more will just eventually appear, and not just at gyms. The internet, particularly social media, has created individuals who will do anything for views and engagement, often at the expense of others. The best thing for OP to do in this case would be to go to a gym that prohibits streamers and other excessive filmers from entering.
