An ICE agent in Los Angeles, California, met the shock of his life when he was confronted by citizens who asked him to identify himself outside a courthouse.ย A short clip posted on TikTok showed the moment ICE agents forced a man into the backseat of an unmarked car in Downtown L.A. They ignored his continued pleas for help and slammed the door shut, while onlookers recorded the incident with their phones.ย
All except one of the ICE agents wore masks to conceal their identities.ย One of the female onlookers could be heard urging them to take off their masks. โF*cking cowards, take off your masks,โ she said. However, they ignored her comment.ย ย
Enraged, one of the onlookers threw some water on the unmasked agent, who then hurriedly walked away when he realized he was being recorded. He was intercepted by a group of women who asked him to provide his badge number, but he refused to speak.
โWhatโs your badge number? Whatโs your name, sir?โ they asked, but he remained silent and continued to fiddle with his phone.
โYouโre law enforcement and youโre not gonna identify yourself?โ a woman probed. However, the ICE agent only affirmed that he was law enforcement, but failed to provide other details. He then hurriedly walked away, clearly trying to avoid more questions.
People who watched the incident online shared several reactions to it. One user wrote, โSomebody tried to melt ICE with water, ๐. ETA: Also, I love how these ladies have each otherโs backs.โ
โLooks like the type that should be stuffed in the back of an unmarked car and shipped wherever. Iโm sure itโs coming for him eventually,โ another user added.
Other users expressed disheartened outrage at the incident. They noted that several innocent people have been subjected to inhumane treatment as a result of the crackdown on illegal immigration.
One user wrote that the ICE agents are โnot menโ and are barely qualified to be called agents. The user also called them cowards because they tend to โstart grabbing masksโ to hide their identities when confronted.
A concerned user asked if there was evidence to certify that the agents are actually law enforcement officers and not just โrando kidnappers.โ Another user penned, โMy heart aches every time I see thisโฆ It is so un-American to say the least. Inhumane, in fact.โ
One disheartened user noted how heartbreaking it was to hear the pleas of the man who was forced into the car. โHearing that poor man beg for help as heโs being stuffed in the back of an unmarked car by men in masks is both scary and heartbreaking ๐,โ the user agonized.
