Cops have been on a wild run in the last few months. Typically, you hear about masked ICE agents or National Guard clashing with citizens, but standard rank-and-file police are eager to jump on the dumb train every moment they can. In Colorado, there’s no shortage of drama on a daily basis, but in a silly video, an innocent man, only guilty of a questionable hairstyle, was pulled over and detained by a cop for the simple crime of picking up after himself.
In a video shared to the PublicFreakout Reddit page by user Boring_Appearance_89, a man in a blue shirt can be seen talking to a police officer who is off-camera at first. After some small back and forth, the cop claims he saw the man hopping off his bike and grabbing a soccer ball from somebody’s yard. The man claims it’s his soccer ball. The man claims he threw it and then went to retrieve it, but the Karen cop asks for ID and informs him that he will be detained. He then tries asking the man for his name, and he refuses.
After a few minutes of back and forth, the man gets his badge number. The man and the cop argue about his detainment, and whether or not the cop should apologize for stopping him. After the cop leaves, the man looks at the camera and says the following.
This is what policing in America is like, and I’m not even Black.
This triggered a flurry of comments in the Reddit thread, as some people claimed the man was being difficult, while others were defending him, saying the cop was a Karen and went too far. Others, were far more concerned with his hairstyle.
“The only crime I see is that hairstyle”
“Holy shit, you’re not wrong. No offence but this hair looks like a federal crime”
“He’s not a man, he’s a gland. A great big neck with sausage hands.”
“Yeah he seemed to have trouble articulating his reasonable not-so articulable suspicion.”
“Love how the cops says all you had to do was tell me you dropped it. Dawg. He did. 10 minutes ago. It was the first thing outta the dudes mouth. These mouth breathers get state issued guns.”
At least the man and the cop handled themselves well, and nobody was hurt, but you never know what will happen when you are pulled over or detained anymore.
