The presence of male cheerleaders in the NFL is currently a hot debate. It may be 2025, but fanbases for professional teams are still full of people who don’t see things clearly. They push gender roles and stake a claim to what defines true masculinity. This week, a Minnesota Vikings fan took to social media to share his deep thoughts on the many absurdities in that train of thought.
Nate, who goes by @tallnate on his TikTok channel, specifically addressed the people who are currently upset that the Minnesota Vikings let males join their cheer squad this season. In his video, he states, “This isn’t some shocking new thing. It’s been happening in NFL for years.” Nate then listed a dozen other NFL teams that have male cheerleaders. Among them are the Baltimore Ravens, the Los Angeles Rams, the Philadelphia Eagles, the New England Patriots, and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Nate also speaks out about former NFL player Antonio Brown. Brown was recently called out for “spewing homophobic garbage” about the male cheerleaders working for the Minnesota Vikings. In his rant, Brown reportedly referred to one of the males as a “***got of the day.”
Nate – whose TikTok bio lists him as an ally for the LBGTQ+ – had this to say about Brown’s crude remarks: “If you’re more bothered by who’s holding pom poms than by your team’s win-loss record, maybe the problem isn’t football and it’s you.”
Comments on the video were full of support and agreement. One viewer stated, “Yes!!!! Exactly! If you have a problem with it, then it’s a YOU problem.” Another viewer added, “People are just looking for stupid shit to be offended by, all while crying that other people get offended by stupid shit.”
Nate feels the same. He ended his 1-minute clip by asking, “What are you so afraid of? That masculinity is so fragile that it can’t survive a choreographed dance? Sounds like some people have some issues to work out.”
America, take note. There’s more pressing news to discuss than who’s now allowed in pro cheer. This goes for the Minnesota Vikings, as well as all the other teams that may or may not do the same. Agree or disagree?
