Unfortunately, we live in an age where you genuinely do not know the intentions of anyone you come in contact with out in public. Of course, you should never automatically assume the best in everyone, but there are definitely particular situations you should avoid. Unfortunately, for a group of commuters riding a bus in Charlotte, North Carolina, one particular situation was unavoidable. Fortunately, no one appeared to be injured, but the fear of what could have happened was still very real.
A video circulating on the web shows a man on a bus in Charlotte, North Carolina. He appears to be intoxicated or under the influence of something, as he suddenly leans over a person who is sitting to give them a handshake. Because of the nature of the handshake, the man is able to pull the seated commuter up close. It is in this moment that other commuters realize that something is wrong, as the man stands up to perform the same action to the man sitting behind the first.
However, when the man does his handshake the second time, the movement appears to simulate a stabbing. Suddenly, you can tell that instead of giving out handshakes, the man is actually simulating stabbing various people on the bus with a knife. Of course, those who are seeing this don’t realize exactly what is happening, so I can only imagine the terror going through their minds at the possibility.
Commenters on the Reddit video joked about the actions of others on the bus, with one person saying, “Dude in the row directly behind knew what time it was.” Others even commented on the nature of the man’s pants, which were almost down to his knees by the end of the video. However, despite the lighthearted jokes, things could have easily made a turn for the worse.
Hopefully, the man being recorded sees himself on the internet, prompting him not to act that way in public again. There is no excuse for his behavior, and honestly, someone who could have perceived his actions as a threat could have very well harmed him out of self-defense.
