It’s a relief that today there are thousands of pregnancy and baby products that make life easier for parents. However, certain brands need to learn to find their audience in modern times, when not everyone wants to have children. For example, the frida brand, which advertises pregnancy and baby products, found that a childfree influencer from California was talking about their products. The brand did not take into account that the influencer’s community would not welcome its presence with open arms.
The user z00mie, or as she is mainly known, “the girl with the list”, often reminds people to use contraception. What made the influencer so popular is her 300+ videos, titled “Reason X to not have kids,” where she showcases the mischief or bizarre things that happen when you have children. In the most recent video by the childfree influencer from California, she shows a device from a baby brand that helps babies “free their farts”. The device is useful, but many in the z00mie community did not find it pleasant to learn how to help babies with their farts or poop. However, the frida social media team, the baby product brand that appears in several of z00mie’s videos, appeared in the comments.
The frida team thought it would be an excellent idea to comment, ‘lol the snot thing is us too, promise it’s not as bad as it looks,’ referring to another of s00mies’ videos. Additionally, it was evident that the brand team was attempting to convince the childfree community that their products weren’t as bad as they seemed. It’s not about whether the products are good or bad, as we have never tried them before. It’s just that it would be a challenge to convince others that using them isn’t disgusting. Mainly because we’re talking about people who don’t want anything to do with babies.
Just to clarify, no followers were rude in their responses to frida, but they did make it clear that this wasn’t the place for their products. For example, lump wrote ‘don’t lie to make yourself feel better ๐’ and โง.*+๐๐ฐ๐ฅ+.*โง commented ‘stop lying BRAND you know it’s horrible‘, both as if it were a joke. While the user Van Gogh’s Mimi ๐ชฉadded ‘Marketing intern: this is not the page to try to engage. None of us wants ANY part of this. Trust, ‘ it just shows that no one is interested in finding out more about the brand.
