Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Fox’s cult cop comedy, has been cancelled by the network after five seasons. Fox continued on to cancel two more of their comedy series: The Last Man on Earth and The Mick.

The cop comedy will make its final appearance on network television on May 20, 2018. Fans of the show were outraged to see the show cancelled and immediately took to social media to air their grievances. With hashtags #RenewB99 and #SaveB99 rapidly gaining attention, fans hope that Netflix or Hulu will pick up the series to continue it.

Stars of the show took to Twitter to express their gratitude and love for all of their supportive fans. Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s creator, Dan Goor responded, “Wow. Thank you all for this incredible outpouring of support. #brooklyn99 fans are the best fans in the world. It means the world to me and everyone else who works on the show.” And Stephanie Beatriz, Detective Rosa Diaz, wrote “What a gift this series has been: it’s been my honor. Your sadness is noted. NINE-NINE!

Starring Lonely Islander Andy Samberg, Terry Crews, Andre Braugher, and other comedic stars, Brooklyn Nine-Nine debuted back in 2013 to some pretty stellar reviews. The comedy followed Detective Jake Peralta (Samberg) a goofball cop from the NYPD’s 99th Precinct. Despite his best arrest record, Peralta isn’t one to follow the rules. That is until  Ray Holt (Braugher), an emotionally separated man with a lot to prove, is promoted to commanding officer.

Despite the positive response audiences had to the show, Brooklyn Nine-Nine suffered from constantly shifting between showing on Sunday or Tuesday nights. in fact, the show did so well that it took the spot after the Super Bowl one year due to its popularity.

Are you sad to see the cop comedy leaving the air? Hoping Netflix or Hulu will pick the show up? Let us know in the comments below, and keep coming back to The Nerd Stash for all of your nerdy news and needs!
