The wall-crawler is getting a brand-new comic series due out in January. Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will focus on Peter Parker’s life. The reveal came during New York Comic Con followed by a detailed description on Marvel’s website.

With a lot of heroes, they’re most heroic when they’re in their suit and hide away their nature the rest of the time. But Peter’s humanity and kindness isn’t ever hidden. He wants to do the right thing by everyone no matter whether he’s on the ground or swinging through the sky. I’ve always loved when Peter Parker is at his most relatable. Sure, he’s a guy who saves the world, but he’s still struggling to pay his bills with his housemates. That’s the heart of this series. We’re going to tell some big stories here, and introduce an all-new hero, but it’s all about the micro. This is Peter finding adventure in his apartment building, a few doors down.”

It is being written by Tom Taylor, the writer of DC’S Injustice, and Marvel’s X-men, and Star Wars plus many more titles. The art for Spidey’s newest adventure will be done by Juan Cabal, artist for X-23. Both previously worked on Marvel’s All-New Wolverine comic.

It’s wonderful to be working with him and [colorist] Nolan Woodard again. When you have confidence in someone and you know how he works, the process is much more fluid and organic and the final product is undoubtedly more satisfying for both creators and readers.”

The cover art for this article is by Andrew Robinson. It is not a new addition to the names of Spider-Man comics. It first appeared in a series run debuting in 2005 and ending in 2007 from writer Peter David.

Fans can get their copy of Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man when it swings onto shelves January 2019.
