Mötley Crüe is one of the most influential Heavy Metal Bands out there. They’re famous for selling ten million albums worldwide, entering the 80’s glam metal movement with their third. But they’re also a band known explicitly for their controversial hedonistic lifestyles. And in Netflix’s upcoming The Dirt, you’ll be seeing as much of the latter as you will the former.

Yes, Netflix has finally released a trailer for their exclusive Mötley Crüe biopic. Due to hit your screens March 22nd, it looks to capture the band’s infamously turbulent lifestyle. You can have a gander at it below:

The movie is based on the band‘s 2001 autobiography which Mötley Crüe co-wrote with New York Times writer Neil Strauss. The full title of said autobiography is The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band. Even with the mere title in mind, you can get a good idea of what you’re in for. Backstage scandals, drug addictions, and celebrity love affairs abound!

Co-produced by the band members themselves, the film stars Douglas Booth, Machine Gun Kelly, Daniel Webber, and Iwan Rhean. Jeff Tremaine (known mostly as co-creator of Jackass) directs the comedy-drama based on a script by Rich Wilkes (XXX). Here’s hoping their talents produce a new Netflix hit!

Mötley Crüe

Despite the band’s reputation, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx insists it won’t all be about throwing TVs out of hotel windows and vehicular manslaughter charges. Ina  2015 interview with the magazine Classic Rock, Sixx laid out his intentions for the film.

Anybody can make a shitty rock movie. We don’t want to do that. A lot of people don’t understand rock music and the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle. It’s not just sex, drugs and car crashes. Those things happen – and, in our case, more than usual. But what’s at the core of it all is the creativity and the personal relationships between each band member. We don’t just want to slap together the thrill moments. Any of the great movies, whether it’s Walk the Line or Ray, they got the music right and the personalities right.

If this is what we see in the finished product, we could be in for a great Mötley Crüe film.

But the question remains – are you looking forward to the movie? Are you worried it won’t do Mötley Crüe justice? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
