Digital entertainment is continuously evolving, with many changes in recent years that have resulted in differences in viewing trends and the way that we consume entertainment media. However, this trend for change shows no sign of stopping, and here are some of the most popular digital entertainment trends of Spring 2019.

  • Online Casinos

Online casinos have enjoyed popularity in recent years and are a common sight on the internet. Online casinos allow you to play online slots, lottery games, casino games, bingo, and even make sporting bets based on live odds. This makes online casinos incredibly versatile and a source of hours of entertainment for all, with their relevance to real-time events such as football matches ensuring that they maintain their place as one of the most popular forms of digital gaming.

  • TV Streaming Services

With the BBC and ITV considering teaming up to release their own streaming service in the UK, it seems as if the trend for TV and film streaming services is set to increase. Where once streaming services used to purely have old films and broadcast television programs from other channels on a database, more companies are now considering making their own original content. For instance, Netflix spent 85% of its revenue on its original content in 2018, and this number seems to have no sign of decreasing in 2019.

  • Catch-Up Services

However, the creation of streaming services has not reduced the importance of catch-up tv, the best way to watch soaps and other television if you have missed the original broadcast time. Although the service originated as a way of ensuring that you never miss an episode of the television show you had been watching, it now focuses on drawing in new viewers for the series, in which each episode can stay on the catch-up services for anything between one month to three. What’s more, Sky release their own box sets onto their catch-up services to ensure that they could compete with streaming services.

  • Blogs

More than ever, it now may seem like everyone has a blog, and many of these are monetized. Everything from different fandoms to literature reviews, these blogs are an excellent way for people to gain their own platforms to broadcast their opinions and harness their writing skills. Not only this, but blogs can create vibrant communities for people to discuss their favorite subjects through comments and contact pages.

  • E-Books

Although there have been significant increases in the number of physical books bought, e-books are still a prominent element of the publishing market. Due to their accessibility and ability to be transported, e-books have increased in popularity in recent times, with many large companies such as Amazon deciding to create their own e-readers to replace books.

  • Mobile-First Gaming

Although you may have needed to invest in a games console in previous years to play your favorite games, many companies are now considering using mobile phones as the first platform for their games. Mobile games are transportable, addictive, and simple, allowing anyone to enjoy them.

From mobile-first gaming to online casinos, there are many different platforms that are prominent in the digital entertainment world in 2019. However, these services are always adapted to serve the need of their audience and ensure that we get the most modern experience possible.
