This information might only be relevant to all you taco connoisseurs out there, but more people knowing about it never hurts. As you may or may not know, you can also make tacos with blue corn tortillas. And yes, that’s a thing that exists. Many even say blue corn is much better as it is even tastier and healthier than normal corn. While many places sell actual blue corn tortillas, it seems that one particular taco stand in Dallas, Texas, is selling blue-colored tacos. It might not seem like a big deal, but if true, painting a tortilla is a crime against Mexican food.
The original image comes from Redditor vippuka, who shared it on the r/mexicanfood subreddit. But, why are these blue tacos relevant to Dallas? It seems some food sleuths discovered that these colored abominations come from a Taco Stand in Dallas called Taco N’ Todo, somewhere near DFW.
In the post, the OP says they are familiar with blue corn tortillas, and these ones look way too blue and nothing like the real deal. Blue corn tortillas have a slightly darker color, and well, they don’t glow like this one. They look as if someone dipped them inside an ICEE slurp machine.
People were quick to start making fun remarks on the matter, with some of them emphasizing how strange the tortillas look.

While many look at this in a fun way, the truth is that if the stand is actually coloring the tortillas with a type of food dye, it looks bad for the business. Some people might actually believe these are authentic blue corn tacos and roll with it. Fortunately, many culinary heroes are out there sharing how blue corn tacos should be. On the other hand, the OP mentioned the tacos weren’t that bad. They only say the color put them off, which, to be fair, is understandable. A taco should never look like a blueberry folded pancake with meat inside it.
