A Penn State Student Disrupts Class, No One Claps and No One Laughs ‘Just wasted $500 of my tuition’

Not even a snicker

What can be rather frustrating in our day to day lives is being interrupted while we’re in the middle of something important by a loud, obnoxious person seeking attention—especially when said important thing is a higher education. In this episode of People Who Think They’re the Center of the Universe (it’s a working title), we have a Penn State student disrupting class with music and dancing.

Redditor Subject-Property-343 shared the video on r/PublicFreakout, though it was recorded by TikTok user Joey13ss. In the video, a Penn State student bursts into class, carrying a heavy-looking Bluetooth speaker playing Playboi Carti. He immediately starts dancing poorly for a few seconds before grabbing his speaker and leaving through the back door.

In the 30 seconds of silliness that transpired, the classroom was deafeningly silent. What’s particularly funny isn’t the disruption itself but how long it actually took to get to the front of the class. It was 15 seconds of travel for zero payoff. A few students can be seen recording the disruption, but otherwise, the act was inconsequential.

While the student’s behavior is ultimately harmless, one Redditor brought up a good point. “Thanks. Your stunt just wasted $500 of my tuition money,” they said. Others were quick to point out it only lasted 30 seconds, but it’s really the principle of the matter. There’s a time and place, and this wasn’t the time.

However, one commenter went overboard with their disapproval, “If there’s any justice— he gets stripped of any scholarships and the frat he’s pledging gets suspended from being on campus for a year. Next infraction= expulsion of the student and disbandment of the frat.” Another insisted on putting the student in jail. Both opinions are extreme and rather cruel.

Stupidity aside, this is just one more example of how social media can push people to do silly things for clout. Or worse, the Pennsylvania student was doing it to gain entry into a fraternity. Hazing is common in college, after all.
