It hardly seems like it has been a year since the first episode of the first seasonย ofย Hitman was released for download. In a unique approach to the release of a triple A title, IO Interactive chose to partition the season over the course of seven destinations throughout 2016 along with the addition of several bonus missions. ย The bean counters at Square Enix appear to have beenย hard at work over the past year tallying many of the unusual statistics garnered from gamers’ time spent withย Hitman. ย

The scale of the game’s popularity becomes instantly apparent when Square Enix reveals that over 70 million challenges were completed so far in the game with each gamer having the opportunity to complete a whopping 600 challenges. ย The newest challenge addition to theย Hitman repertoire has to be the elusive targets, which were introduced for the first time with iteration, of the series. ย Throughout the past year, a new “elusive target” would populate once of the levels in Hitman and each gamer had 48 “real world” hours to complete the challenge of assassinating the target. ย The big catch was that they only had a single chance to accomplish the task. ย If the target did not die then there were no second chances.ย ย

Overall there were 20 elusive targets that gamers could set their crosshairs on and according to Square Enix, only 23% of gamers were able to dispatch The Fixer in the allottedย time. Other memorable stats from theย Hitmanย infographic below includes:

  • A mere 2% of players executed the target Ken Morgan with a coconut
  • The AI dialogue inย Hitman is wordierย than J.R.R. Tolkien’sย Lord of the Rings Trilogy
  • 70 people actually died in the same puddle within the game

The first season ofย Hitmanย is now also now available at retail on disk containing the more than 100 hours of gameplay that was parsed out of its first year of release. ย Agent 47, what have you in store for us in year two?
