Mysterious Shards are one of the many collectibles in Assassin’s Creed Mirage and as their name implies, the shards are, well, mysterious. Acquired by either pickpocketing or killing members of the Order of the Ancients – or Tha’abeen – these shards are scattered around the city of Baghdad and its surrounding wilderness, usually on a moving target. Unlike many of the other treasures in AC Mirage, you can’t buy a map showing their location. However, once you’ve tracked down enough of the mysterious shards, you can turn them in for powerful, high-level gear.

After killing your first Order member a few hours into Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you’ll receive a quest to visit your old friend Nehal, who then gives you a lead on how to find a hidden oasis north of the ‘Aqarquf Dunes. Once you do so, you’ll be in a chamber with three pieces of high-level gear locked behind a force field. The mysterious shards act like keys for these forcefields, and each item is unlocked with a different number of shards.

Two mysterious shards unlock the Samsaama, a dagger with 27 damage and 47 defense damage. It comes fully upgraded with the “Life Steal” perk, where every fifth hit heals Basim for 10% of his health.

Three mysterious shards unlock the Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegar, a sword with 46 damage and 78 defense damage. Like the dagger, it comes fully upgraded with the “Blood Price” perk, where Basim’s max health is reduced by 50% but his damage is increased by the same amount.

Five mysterious shards unlock Milad’s Outfit, a fully upgraded set of Isu armor with the “Forgotten Terror” perk, where successful Air Assassinations set off a flash of lightning that disorients bystanders within a 15-meter radius.

There are ten mysterious shards to be found in and around Baghdad, with two in each district and the Wilderness. Be on the lookout for the Order members in black robes, usually with at least one bodyguard. As you approach, Basim will comment on how the person seems suspicious and he should investigate.

The next shard can also be found in Karkh. This order member wanders from the water near Qasir Salih, past the Officer’s Club and Cookmen’s Quarter, and to the Qadi District Office and Basra Gate. This Tha’abeen has no bodyguard, but the busy city streets can make taking them out tricky.

Both of the mysterious shards in the Round City can be a little tricky to obtain, since this area of the city is meant for the rank of Assassin, but they’re not impossible if you know where to look. One of the mysterious shards can be found on an Order member in the Residential District, west of Basra Gate.
