FromSoftware visited one of their oldest franchises after the successful release of their first open-world Soulsborne game, Elden Ring. Armored Core 6 is a fantastic mech combat game set in the world of Rubicon. In case you are reluctant to play the game in case it could be hard, check our article on whether the game is hard or not. In the game, there are multiple ways you can deal damage to different enemies as you progress through missions. Knowing when to use each will help you greatly in the game. So here are all the weapon damage types in Armored Core 6.

Armored Core 6 relies heavily on combat. Knowing all the different damage types in the game is essential to your survival. Basically, there are three main categories of weapon damage types in Armored Core 6. The three categories are Kinetic, Energy, and Explosive.

Kinetic Damage Type

The damage type that you will use most of the time is Kinetic. This type of damage can be described as a blunt force to deal with raw physical damage. The best time to use this weapon is when the enemy is staggered.

Compared to other weapon types in the game, Kinetic is much faster. Therefore it is the best option to use in medium-range encounters that have enough power and range to get you out of the combat alive.

Mini-Guns, Assault Rifles, Shotguns, and Handguns deal Kinetic Damage.

Energy Damage

Energy weapons deal more damage compared to Kinetic, but on the downside, they have a slow fire rate. Therefore it is best to use Energy damage before getting into close or medium-range encounters. You can also charge your weapons to deal extra damage but it is important to know that Energy weapons won’t stagger the enemy.

There are three different Energy Damage types in Armored Core 6:

  • Laser: The standard blue beam that travels directly.
  • Plasma: It has a purple color and explodes at the point of impact causing small damage to nearby enemies as well.
  • Pulse: A green orb-shaped energy projectile that can break the armor and shields of enemies.

Since Energy weapons deal much more damage, they have limited ammo and also will be heated quickly if used a lot. It is best to use it properly to save ammo for tougher enemies as well as avoid cooldowns that can make the combat much harder.

Weapons of this category are Pulse Guns, Plasma Rifles, and Laser Rifles.

Explosive Weapons

The last category of weapons you have in Armored Core 6 is the Explosive Weapons. Similar to Kinetic, they deal raw physical damage at the highest rate possible. They have the slowest fire rate and a difficult ammo economy.

In direct comparison, Explosive Weapons deal the most damage, therefore it is best to use them in boss battles or tough situations. Not only that, but they have a high recoil which means moving and shooting will probably cause less accuracy and increase your chances of missing the target. So it is best to use them while you are stationary.

Missile Launchers, Napalm Launchers, and Grenade Launchers are considered Explosive Weapons in Armored Core 6.

You also have Melee Weapons in Armored Core 6 that can be equipped on the left arm. Unlike ranged weapons, there isn’t much variety in them, but each Melee weapon you choose will have a unique attack that can deal heavy damage in close-range combat.
