Controversial social media personality Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have been released from house arrest in Romania. Recall that the brothers were taken into custody in December 2022 and slapped with several charges, including rape. Three months later, Andrew Tate and Tristan’s Romanian house arrest began. But on Friday, Tate, who isn’t on Fortnite, won his appeal to be released from his house arrest, pending trial. However, the brothers’ must adhere to some strict conditions from the court.

Earlier this week, Andrew Tate and Tristan appealed against a court decision made in July to keep them under house arrest for an extra month. While the odds seemed against the brothers, they finally won the appeal in a Romanian court on Friday. Now, Tate and Tristan are under judicial control, which the Bucharest Court of Appeal considers a lighter measure. The judicial control is expected to span 60 days, ending on October 2. Meanwhile, although Andrew Tate’s Romanian house arrest has ended, he and his brother are not entirely free. The pair are still awaiting trial on three charges.
Until the trial begins, Andrew Tate and Tristan aren’t allowed to leave Romania but are free to move around the country’s capital and the surrounding district where they live. Also, the brothers must report to the police when asked to and inform them of changes regarding their house address, if any. What’s more, Tate and Tristan are prohibited from communicating with the witnesses, victims, and their families, as well as the associates accused alongside them. Failure to heed the court’s conditions could lead to the brothers facing another house arrest or preventative detention.
Following the development, Tristan took to his Twitter account to announce his release from house arrest. In the tweet, he berated his critics for spreading fake news about him being guilty before concluding:

In December 2022, news broke that Andrew Tate and Tristan were arrested and charged with rape, human trafficking, and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women. While the Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism identified seven alleged victims, the brothers denied all allegations. Tate and Tristan stayed active on social media during their time behind bars, giving updates about their situation. They stayed in police detention for three months, after which they finally won an appeal on March 31 to be moved to house arrest.
While Andrew Tate was under Romanian house arrest, he invited the BBC, Valuetainment, and more to his home to discuss their experiences. The former kickboxer also continued to keep his followers updated. On Thursday, Tate took to Twitter to inform his over seven million followers about the court appeal. Many hoped that Tate would win, and their wishes came through. The businessman, his brothers, and his lawyers are grateful for the support they have received so far.
