The Wicked press tour may be over, but Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater‘s relationship is definitely not. The couple recently enjoyed a date night in New York City, officially shutting down speculation they had broken up following the release of their blockbuster film.
Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater Support Liz Gillies
Over the weekend, Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater took a trip to New York City’s Westside Theatre to catch an off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors. They attended the show to support the pop star’s long-time friend and former Victorious co-star Elizabeth “Liz” Gillies. The actress has been starring as Audrey opposite Milo Manheim’s Seymour since February.
According to People, Grande and Slater’s theater date took place on Saturday, April 26. A source told the publication that the pair arrived to the show an hour early. Apparently, they wanted to spend time with Gillies and the other actors backstage. Of course, the cast loved the surprise visit. “They were both so friendly and warm with the cast, and so supportive of the production,” the insider said.
The source added that Grande went around and gave everyone hugs. As if that wasn’t cute enough, the singer also surprised Gillies with a small potted plant, which the Dynasty star put in the women’s dressing room. The gift was a nod to Little Shop of Horrors, which centers around a florist who comes across a mysterious plant that requires blood to survive.
It’s no surprise Grande and Slater decided to catch the show for one of their date nights since they’re major theater fans. The insider said that Grande’s excitement was obvious when she arrived at the show singing “Skid Row.” She also left with a bag of Little Shop of Horrors merch.
Still Going Strong
Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater’s New York City outing comes just weeks after they were involved in breakup rumors. The speculation arose in March after blind items about the couple went viral claiming Grande dumped Slater. Since then, the rumors have only become more widespread since Grande and Slater haven’t been seen together in public for a while. The last time they appeared to be seen together was at the 2025 Oscars on March 2 in support of Wicked.
Fans have mixed feelings knowing the pair is still together. Some are supportive of the couple since they appear to be in it for the long haul. “I lowkey see ethan and ariana getting married in the future,” one person said. “Good for her,” another wrote about Grande. However, others weren’t happy about the news due to the controversy surrounding their relationship. “Guess they didn’t break up after all,” said another person in surprise.
When Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater began dating in July 2023, they were accused of cheating on their previous partners. Fans thought Grande left her then-husband Dalton Gomez for Slater. Meanwhile, they were convinced Slater left his then-wife Lilly Jay for Grande. Despite the accusations, the couple has insisted they didn’t cheat.
Although Grande and Slater have been super low-key lately, they’ll be back in the spotlight later this year when Wicked: For Good hits theaters in November.
