In another slew of leaks of R6Script Leaks, it’s reported that Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed title which goes back to the roots of the franchise gameplay-wise will also run on the old Assassin’s Creed Engine. Still, will the game be any better than previous iterations in the franchise? Adding on, Assassin’s Creed Mirage has unfortunately been delayed.

It was reported by R6ScriptLeaks, a credibly Ubisoft leaker known for leaking screenshots of Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Ubisoft’s Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, that Assassin’s Creed Mirage has been further delayed. In the same post, the Twitter leaker stated that Assassin’s Creed Mirage would still be running on the ‘old’ Assassin’s Creed Engine. More info is expected to release at the next Ubisoft Forward Event.

Game Studios are shifting from their in-house engines to more accessible open-source ones the likes of Unreal Engine 5 or staying faithful to Unity. That’s not to say there’s any fault with these engines. Ubisoft has been using the AnvilNext Engine also known as Schimtar back in 2009, the old Assassin’s Creed Engine for the majority of their titles.

This game engine was used for the majority of the initial installments of the Assassin’s Creed Franchise all the way from Assassin’s Creed 1 through Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag. While the newer entries into the franchise are reported to run on the AnvilNext 2.0 Engine but has seen no release date or technical reveals so far.

All in all, we won’t see Assassin’s Creed Mirage anytime soon. And to top it all off, it’s running on the Schimtar/ AnvilNext Engine. It’s evident the newer game engine will be fully utilized in titles the likes of Assassin’s Creed Red.

So, what do you think of Mirage running on the AnvilNext Engine? Will the gameplay be clunky? And what are your views on Assassin’s Creed Mirage getting delayed again? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned for more updates on the NerdStash.
