Trouble in Little Jorvik

The Vault accusation in Valhalla

The number of decisions made by the player is immense in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. From simple and kind-hearted exchanges with animals to tough negotiations with kings, Eivor acts as a nexus for many cross-branching events that can go one way or another. During the Jorvik storyline, our Finest Viking seeks to uncover who The Vault is among a few council members and the character Hjorr. As a member of the Order of the Ancients in Valhalla, The Vault is a vital target and must be taken care of. Read on if you need some help with accusing the correct individual.

Upon acquiring the “Closing the Vault” quest, you’ll head to the feast in Jorvik where the event’s drink has been poisoned. Ljufvina needs to keep an eye out for the wine while Eivor will “chat” with the council members to see who’s behind the mess. There are four members that you’re choosing from: Hjorr, Faravid, Ricsige, and Audun. You may speak with all of them if you so choose, but Audun is the one you want to pay attention to. His lines are mildly cryptic. He’s overly-enthusiastic about the event. And when Eivor invites him to indulge in the wine, he immediately rejects the idea and instead tells Eivor to help themselves. Comparatively as well, Audun just looks scummy. All the obvious signs point to him.

When talking to the other members, they’ll respond honestly to the wine. Ricsige doesn’t care what happens to it. Faravid doesn’t want to drink the wine, but he doesn’t possess the same information as Audun. Hjorr refuses to drink it, but after some convincing from Eivor, Hjorr decides against his initial reaction.

If you accuse any of the other members, not much will change. Except for one exchange if you were to place the blame on Hjorr. Only small alterations to the dialogue are applied for Hjorr to express his disappointment with Eivor’s mistrust. But no matter what, Ljufvina and Hjorr will offer Jorvik’s allegiance to Ravensthorpe.

Now, whoever you accuse in this situation will lead to the same outcome: Audun will reveal himself to the crowd, and the conclusion won’t change. Chaos will ensue, and Eivor will then have to assassinate Audun, The Vault. If you accuse someone else, nothing major will occur in terms of narrative differences. The same scene will play out with the cultist presenting the dark hour of reverse celebration.

Audun reveals himself

From there, you make the kill, and another member of the Order is no more. He won’t put up much of a fight when you’re chasing after him. Instead, he just cowers away until you deliver the killing strike. Definitely not the most difficult and tedious sequence of action in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but accusing and killing The Vault is one step further to getting rid of the Order in England. If you have any other Order members you’re having trouble with, let us know, and be sure to leave a comment down below.
