Not everyone wants to play housekeeping for their own house even in a digital setting, and such is the case for Once Human. At times, you might be too allured by the promise of exploration and excitement of guns — looking after your base becomes an afterthought. Thankfully, Once Human has friendly Deviants or Deviations who don’t mind base maintenance every now and then. The following base Deviations in Once Human are must-haves for the convenience they offer.

Gathering Deviations in Once Human

These Deviants are the unsung heroes of base building. They gather everything from Logs to Ores, freeing up your manual game time for exploration or other matters. As expected, you need several of them. But having one of each provides massive comfort for your base.

Obviously, Digby Boy and Logging Beaver should be your priority here. With the resources they gather, you shouldn’t have a problem building or crafting spontaneously. You can also have several of them for ramped-up output.

These Deviants will take care of your basic needs and give you some of the tools or consumables you’ll want in your exploration runs. You can live without them as they’re not as important as the gathering Deviants, but they’re still valuable in their own way.

The ones that produce food are most welcome since they can solve your dependency on hunting or other activities. At some point, they might even produce too much food and most of it might go to waste. One can’t complain, though. You can also use Spoiled Food as fertilizer…

If you have a sizable territory and want to make the most out of it while also being sufficient, then farming Deviations are a must. These ones can make your life easier either by automating crop harvest or planting.

Farming can be rather expensive in Once Human to set up, especially with the amount of electricity you need, but there are ways to increase your base’s output and efficiency.

If you want to maximize your generators and solar panels or increase the production of certain structures, the following Deviations can help with that.

Keep in mind that the Flame Essence is a rather elusive and shy Deviation and you might have to chase it as it will run away when you’re catching it. However, it’s worth it given how dependent you are on the Furnace for progression and weapons.

These Deviations can either provide additional healing or make your base more secure, especially when you’re purifying Cortexes.

The Paper Figure is way too valuable to ignore as your base will inevitably take damage from all the purification you’ll be doing or if you’re in a PvP server.

Once you have all of these Deviants, you can leave your base without much care and only come back occasionally from your exploration runs to collect food, and ore, or build new structures. Moreover, starting anew from a season wipe will be easier if you have these Deviations for base management in Once Human.
