Marvel is taking readers back to the Avengers Mansion with Avengers Assemble series. The new series puts Captain America back in the driver’s seat as he recruits a new squad of Avengers. It spins out of Jed MacKay’s run-on Avengers with writer Steve Orlando taking the reins. Orlando will be accompanied by a slew of talented artists like Cory Smith, Scot Eaton, Marcelo Ferreira, Valentina Pinti, and more. These creative geniuses will follow Captain America as he forms a new team made of old and new Avengers and they work to take on crisis after crisis on globetrotting missions.

Avengers Assemble also spins out of Captain America’s experience in the vampiric Blood Hunt event. The red, white, & blue hero is inspired by the team of Avengers he pulled together during the vampire battle. This will change how the Cap views his team building and what he needs to change to make a truly unstoppable squad. The series also expands on the current scope of Avengers storytelling, bringing a more modern take on the classic drama and adventure of the group.

After Blood Hunt, Captain America forms the Avengers Emergency Response Squad. This hand-picked team will live and work out of the Avengers Mansion, ready to spring into action when the need arises. Each issue of Avengers Assemble will bring a new threat for the group to face-down. While the adventures will be quick, they will be filled with action as well as some exciting team bonding, character development, and interpersonal stakes.

Avengers Assemble

Avengers Assemble will feature a team of veterans mixed with some newcomers. This includes Hawkeye (Clint Barton), Hercules, She-Hulk, Photon, Night Thrasher, Lightning, Womder Man, Shang-Chi, and Lightspeed (Julie Power). The debut issue will see half the team heading out to stop Red Skull’s daughter getting her hands on a dangerous artifact. Meanwhile, Hawkeye hangs back to welcome the latecomers with a little game of poker. Hopefully, this new team will mesh in time to stop their first real threat.

Avengers Assemble #1 is on sale 09/11.
