Ayesha Curry, wife of basketball star Stephen Curry, is being criticized for her argument with the French police. Just hours after her husband led Team USA to victory over France in the men’s basketball final, Ayesha, while with her infant, had a confrontation As expected, the argument was sensationalized by the presence of a baby. However, a new update hints that the officers weren’t in the wrong.

In a video shared on X, Ayesha and the baby were trying to exit a venue when the spat happened. Her mother-in-law, Sonya Curry, and Stephen’s Golden State teammate, Draymond Green, accompanied them. Sonya angrily told a cop, “They won’t let the driver come here. They won’t let us go back over there.” At another point, Green asked, “So even after him hitting the baby in the head, there’s still nothing ya’ll can do to get them out of here?”

The video, however, doesn’t show any officer assaulting baby Curry. Unfortunately, throughout the interaction, Ayesha appeared emotional. The mother-of-four kept wiping her eyes as though fighting back tears. In no time, Americans online piled on France, calling the country racist. “Paris has been a terrible host. I hope they never return,” one fan lamented. Another declared, “The French are racist but also more xenophobic. I’m glad France is getting less pretty and more disgusting by the day.”

Following the backlash, French fans came online to clear the air. According to a community note attached to the post:

“The policemen explain in French that the road is occasionally closed and that they also previously have forbidden access to officials. The policemen are polite and respectful. There was no racism whatsoever.”

Others echoed similar sentiments. One fan explained, “There is nothing racist. The police told them that they cannot go this way like everyone else.” Another comment read, “Lmao. She’s not being harassed. She is just entitled and doesn’t want to listen to what the police are telling her.” Some French fans, however, felt Ayesha was overly emotional about the incident and slammed her. “Entitled and professional victim,” one fan wrote about the famous WAG. “Ayesha Curry privilege doesn’t matter outside of the US,” read another harsh comment. A similar remark read, “This should read ‘Ayesha Curry acting entitled in Paris because the police told her she could not cross the street to her driver ( like the 100s of other people).'” Although it seems it was a matter of miscommunication, Ayesha is on the receiving end of fans’ anger.
