Baldur’s Gate 3: Best Halsin Build in BG3

In BG3, you can take a Halsin build in a few ways. It highlights the versatility of the Druid class. They can send out good damage, but you shouldn’t see them as primary tanks. Druids can also support and control the battlefield, making it easier for your heavy hitters to land final blows. So, how do we best utilize our favorite Bear-shifting Elf in Baldur’s Gate 3? We have some ideas in mind that are worth trying out.

Halsin Druid Build in BG3

It’s no surprise that for many players, the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Halsin is that scene in his Bear form. That’s not all our Wood Elf friend is good for, however. He can be a helpful addition to your party composition in battle.

Some players don’t see Halsin as the first choice in combat, especially if the PC is a Druid or you wind up picking up another Druid in the future like Jaheira. But it’s all about using Halsin correctly in BG3, and that starts with his build.

Here are the starting stats you’ll work with:

• STR: 16
• DEX: 16
• CON: 16
• INT: 12
• WIS: 18
• CHA: 16

We’ve mentioned that Halsin is a Druid. There are multiple subclasses for them. Players can also multiclass or respec him completely to mold Halsin’s build in BG3 into something more unique. However, we’re going to stick to a straight Druid build. It’s a simple approach that can help you get through many battles.

Out of the available subclasses, we do like our BG3 Halsin build with the Circle of the Land subclass. The Land Druid can still Wild Shape, but they take advantage of the magic within the earth. With a build like this, Halsin is strong support to control the battle, land some good hits, and take care of allies. 

Land Druid Build

The Land Druid has a good progression in BG3. So, if you don’t want to use the multiclassing feature, try the build straight. Below is the Level progression Halsin will have as a Land Druid in BG3:

• Level 2: 
  • Natural Recovery: While in combat, replenish expended spell slots.
  • Choose a cantrip: We recommend Produce Flame or Thorn Whip.
• Level 3: Choose a prepared spell: Underdark is a good choice. It offers you Misty Step to get out of trouble or set up high-ground fights. You also get Web, another good spell for controlling enemies.
• Level 4: Choose a cantrip: Resistance is nice if you want your BG3 Halsin build to focus on supporting allies.
• Level 5: Choose a prepared spell: Artic is a fun choice. It offers you Haste, something Druids don’t have. You can also get Sleet Storm.
• Level 6: Land’s Stride: Difficult Terrain: Difficult Terrain won’t slow you down.
• Level 7: Choose a prepared spell: On the offensive front, Forest works well for Grasping Vine. Underdark works too in this build for Greater Invisibility to protect Halsin in BG3.
• Level 9: Choose a prepared spell: Swamp and Underdark can give you non-Druid spells like Cloudkill for crowd control. 
• Level 10: Nature’s Ward: Neither fey nor elemental can Charm or Frighten you. Poisoning and diseased do nothing either.

In BG3, your Halsin build should also use Wild Shape effectively. Here are the Wild Shapes he can turn into:

• Level 2: Wild Shape
  • Cat
  • Badger
  • Wolf
  • Spider
• Level 4: Deep Rothe
• Level 6: Panther and Owlbear
• Level 10: Dilophosaurus

Everyone enjoys the Owlbear with its great HP and damaging attacks. But that’s not to say you should neglect the other Wild Shapes. The Cat always helps in avoiding attention, useful in a hard battle. Meanwhile, Spider is great at corralling and trapping enemies.

Best Feats for BG3 Halsin Build

Feats are not the most useful for Druids in Baldur’s Gate 3. You can choose a Feat at Levels 4, 8, and 12. It may work better to use Ability Improvements to raise Halsin’s stats. You can max out Wisdom quickly or focus on improving his Charisma score.
