If you have played any games by Larian Studios, you might know that the developers love giving players the freedom to choose whatever they want. Some of the latest titles by these developers include the Divinity Original Sin series, and those games let players choose many things, from classes to dialogue options and more. Now, with the imminent release of Baldur’s Gate 3, many wonder what The Dark Urge is. This is a new system or origin coming to the game at launch that’ll let players experience the story in a new and scary way.

As seen in the Panel from Hell, The Dark Urge in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a character origin that’ll change how the game plays for that character. While the game already has choices, and the tone changes depending on what everyone chooses, The Dark Urge leans towards the evil and horrible side. Anyone who chooses this origin will get a different narrator voice and certain choices that are quite creepy and evil. Your character will be plagued with dark thoughts, and they’ll show in certain conversations. Finding a pile of bodies will give you a message saying you enjoy watching that, and some stat checks will unlock even further creepier options.

How to Unlock The Dark Urge

The Dark Urge in Baldur’s Gate 3 is available from the start. You get this option as soon as you enter the character creation screen. It is important to note that the game’s experience will change drastically. While it isn’t bad to choose this path as your first game, we recommend choosing a normal origin to see the differences. Yet, there’s also the option to resist some of this origin’s choices, letting you experience things normally. However, the developers claim The Dark Urge will feature different cutscenes and interactions, which make a playthrough of this part worthwhile.

Playing The Dark Urge in Baldur’s Gate 3 is necessary for those who enjoy roleplaying as evil characters. This is an in-depth system that will offer players a brand-new experience when playing. It might be a bit too much for some, but remember, you can always create a new character and try something different.

Many people claim this game is the closest we’ve had to a D&D match, which means the game is yours to tackle as you see fit. All that remains is to wait for the launch date of this game on August 3 for PC and September 6 for PlayStation 5.
