If you’re looking for some games to spend your time on this Labor Day weekend, you may want to direct your eyes back towards Gotham. As per the announcement from a couple of weeks ago, the performance update patch for the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight has gone live. The game is still not available for purchase on PC, so unless you are one of the unfortunate souls who snagged a copy before sales were suspended, it will still be awhile before you can finish Rocksteady’s Dark Knight franchise. However, this interim patch promises fixes to a multitude of the performance issues that were plaguing the PC port of Batman: Arkham Knight, such as choppy animation (especially when the Batmobile shows up onscreen), low quality textures, and lack of graphical options. To see a full list of patch fixes, check out this update from Warner Bros. Interactive on the Steam forums.

Fixing the frame rate issues is one of the biggest draws of this performance patch.

There are still many people complaining that the game is still unplayable, even with the newly released patch. It does appear to run much better than the old version, but many players have complained of much more frequent crashes once the patch is applied. The release of Batman: Arkham Knight has been seriously marred by the issues faced by the PC version. This is a shame, because other versions of the game have received almost universal praise, with many outlets (including us here at The Nerd Stash) suggesting that it has Game of the Year potential for 2015. The patch released for this weekend is being referred to as an interim patch, so it is not the final fix for Arkham Knight. However, it may be too late to reignite interest in this disaster of a port, even when the final fix is implemented.

Interested in returning to Gotham now that a patch has been released? Has it improved the game’s performance? Or are you too busy playing Rocket League and counting down the days until Fallout 4 to bother? Let us know.
