Pokemon GO is undoubtedly one of the best games in the series, as it gives players the most realistic Pokemon training experience. Besides the fact that you can walk around the real world and catch Pokemon, you can also meet some pocket monsters from previous games or anime, such as Lapras. It was Ash’s Pokémon during his adventures in the Orange Islands. You can also encounter and catch Lapras in Pokemon GO, but for this, you need to know about its counters and Moveset in advance.

Lapras is one of the ultra-rare Pokemon in Pokemon GO due to its low spawn rate. But even when you find it, you will have to put in a lot of effort to catch it. However, this Water and Ice-type Pokemon is worth it.

Let’s start with the fact that Lapras has a very good moveset, effective for both attack and defense:

Fast Attacks

  • Ice Shard (Ice)
  • Water Gun (Water)
  • Frost Breath (Ice)

Charge Attacks

  • Surf (Water)
  • Hydro Pump (Water)
  • Blizzard (Ice)
  • Return (Normal)
  • Frustration (Normal)
  • Ice Beam (Ice)
  • Dragon Pulse (Dragon)
  • Skull Bash (Normal)

Among all these moves it is definitely hard to choose the best ones. We recommend you a combination of Water Gun + Surf and Ice Shard + Ice Beam for offense and defense respectively. It’s also worth noting that the first attack combo is great for PvP, especially if you’re fighting a Ground, Rock, or Fire-type Pokemon.

Best Counters for Lapras

Finding Lapras in the wild is already a challenge in Pokemon GO, but you still can defeat it as Tier 3 Raid Boss or get from Research tasks during many thematic events. And since it has a variety of Water and Ice-type moves, you need to choose your team wisely. Before the Raid, take a look at the recommended Pokemon.

If you are offered a Grass-type, then most likely Lapras will not use Ice-type moves. However, in order not to worry about what moves it knows, you should choose strong Electric and Fighting-type Pokemon. And here is a list of the best counters for Lapras in Pokemon GO:

  • Xurkitree (Thunder Shock + Discharge)
  • Terrakion (Double Kick + Sacred Sword)
  • Blaziken (Counter + Focus Blast)
  • Kartana (Razor Leaf + Leaf Blade)
  • Keldeo (Low Kick + Sacred Sword)

That’s all you need to know about the best counters and moveset for Lapras in Pokemon GO. This Pokemon is very hard to get, but its abilities are worth all your effort. And while you are here, please take a look at our guide on how to adventure together to evolve.
