Dead Rails isn’t the best game on Roblox to play solo, especially considering how difficult it is. But, if you’re like me, then chances are you don’t have anyone to play the game with. So, you’re here to learn more about how to survive the beginning of your journey before being taken down by zombies at 3:00 am. While it might be difficult to do, it’s definitely possible if you know how to start and end your run!
How to Go Solo in Dead Rails Roblox

The best place to start if you’re thinking about going solo in Dead Rails is to choose your preferred class. Players aren’t assigned one at the beginning, and purchasing another costs Bonds.
Best Class
These are the classes that best suit a solo play style and why:
- Survivalist – 75 Bonds
- Survivalists start with a Shovel and a Tomahawk and have an increased base damage. They also do an additional 2x damage with long-range weapons. Alternatively, you can also sell the Tomahawk at the very beginning for extra cash.
- Cowboy – 50 Bonds
- Cowboys start with two Revolver Ammo, one Saddle, a Shovel, and a Revolver. Because of all the additional gear they get, this is the perfect class for early stages.
- Priest – 75 Bonds
- Priests start with two Cricifix, two Holy Waters, and a Shovel. The Cricifix and Holy Water are arguably the most powerful, single-use items in the game, making it perfect for going solo.
- Miner – 15 Bonds
- Miners start with a Mining Helmet, two Coal, and a Pickaxe. With these tools, the Miner can mine for ores and generate a substantial amount of money in the early game. However, as time goes on, the class starts to become a bit useless because ores and other items can just be purchased at general stores.
- Zombie – 75 Bonds
- Zombies only start with the Shove, but have really useful features such as a low detection rate and can eat corpses for additional health.
- High Roller – 50 Bonds
- The High Roller class allows you to collect 1.5x the normal amount of cash from Money Bags.
Best Way to Start a Run
Every run starts with a shovel and $20. You’ll need to do the main tutorial, asking you to pick up and sell a gold bar, purchase a few items from the General Store, and leave via the train. Personally, I would begin by purchasing three Coal so you can get through the first area and into the Safe Zone much faster. You can also choose to sell additional items that your class comes with. But, if you chose any of the above classes for your solo run, then I wouldn’t recommend selling anything.
Best Way to Build Your Train
Before you ride out of the first safe area, grab the three Newspapers laying around to use as a defense for your train. The newspapers can be stood up next to each other, so try to block the back of the train as much as possible to avoid enemies being able to break through. With this strategy, you should be able to make it through enough of the game to eventually come across Sheet Metal, which can also be used as a defense.
Best Way to Survive Unique Buildings and Raids
First things first, make sure that whenever you travel, it’s at night time to avoid wasting daylight. If you happen to be caught in a town with no way to leave at night time, go into a house and cover all exposed openings with Sheet Metal. After that, try to exclusively focus on finding collectibles whenever you enter a building or town because you can sell those items for things you really need.
Concerning unique buildings, follow these tips to come out alive each time:
- Fort Constitution
- Make sure you have a rifle and some ammo with you as you’ll be encountering Captain Prescott, who has a bounty of $150.
- Nikola Tesla’s Lab
- As mentioned above, try to get in and out of the castle, collecting as many valuables as you can along the way. If you grab the Brain in Jar, you’ll unlock the Electrocitioner class. You can also attempt to recreate Tesla’s body using werewolf parts and the Brain in Jar, though I’d really recommend doing that with other players rather than alone.
- Castle
- The castle has vampires and werewolves you can fight, but since you’re playing solo, I’d recommend using this point to try and plow your way through to the final checkpoint using all the coal you’ve collected/ purchased up to this point.
- Final Checkpoint
- Strangely, the final checkpoint is actually pretty easy. The outlaws and zombies you’ll encounter are much easier to kill, and won’t require the same amount of effort. However, there is a crank that needs to be turned in order to beat the game, so I recommend going straight to it, turning it, and staying as far away from enemies as possible until the four-minute countdown hits zero.
Roblox is available to be played on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and mobile devices.
